Nobleswood, I saw a replacement tank in your paint scheme on eBay for $200 a couple of days ago if your thinking about having to do something about your paint because of the tank collapsing. And yes a canisterectomy is in order!

Thanks for the information but I’m thinking of keeping the one I’ve got. Never liked the silver colour, the red ones go faster So I’ll be painting it
The canister was lost before I got the bike, but obviously I have to look at replacing the vent hose & being careful that it’s not pinched as the tank goes back in.
Cheers

Had a great romp on the Stornello day before yesterday. Did some (somewhat) paved and unpaved tracks in Virginia, W.V., and Maryland. Got lost (only) once, too. Only 70 or so miles, but a grand day in fine weather, a fading thing these days.
Yesterday, it was the GRiSO’s turn. The weather was even better, and the GRiSO was the perfect machine for the 85 miles on the (mostly) West Virginia roads I was on. Narrowly avoided two performance awards; must have had their radar off. Whew!
Another stop. This is at Forks of Cacapon at historical marker for "Caudy's Castle." Even allowing for historical hyperbole, these were not the brightest Indians of their tribe.
Then, as always too soon, it was time for home. But our first official "Last of the Season" G&T with Kathi in the warm sun made it quite fine. A wife who listens (or pretends to listen ) to one's tales of moto-derring do is a grand companion.
We drive to Erie tomorrow to bring my 97-YO father-in-law and his 85-YO girlfriend (of 36 years!) back here to visit for a few days. No riding during that time, tho I’ll try to escape to the Moto Grappa for a few hours each day. He’s a great fellow; his g/f, not so much. But, hey, makes him happy.

Good photos Bill.
Like that reference to "performance awards" - generally called blueys over here. Same effect I would imagine and both leave a sour taste in your mouth.

Went up from Boston to the kancamagus Hwy from Conway NH>Lincoln NH.
Was super packed and riding was shite due to traffic and tourists.

@Bill: is the orange device on the GRiSO bar a radar detector ? Allowed in the US ?
Nice drive in your area

Thanks, Richard.
Yes, it's lovely part of the world, especially in the spring and fall ... but most places are nice then.
The orange thingamabob is a SPOT Messenger, albeit an early model and not as fancy as what shows on the home page: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I use when I ride solo as a security blanket for Kathi.
It's basically a sat-based location finder. Unlike most GPS's, however, it's two-way. Kathi can track me (in theory, tho she never does) and get occasional messages from me, which she does like.

Understood. Very useful device. I should have the same messenger for exactly the same reasons.
May be there is an app for mobile phone ?

There is. I've used Glympse in the past. However, you need to make sure you've turned off speed data, otherwise you will get a "you're speeding" message from your wife.
Alternatively, if you use an iPhone, simply use "find my phone".

Thought I might go to the Spaghetti tomorrow. Figured I'd put the rack on. No, not happening. One of the support bolts sheared off in the frame. Curse the fates!

Glympse and similar apps are great as long you have cellular service. That can be spotty where we live and ride, thus the value of SPOT and others like it that work off satellites.
It is expensive (and occasionally maddening), but Kathi likes it, so there we are.

After overcoming the luggage impediments, I loaded up GRiSO and headed South in the general direction of the Spaghetti. Wind was absolutely shite. The ambient temperature began to plummet. Some sort of small Pterosaur committed suicide on my visor at Gerogery, but fortunately it rained on me, and I was able to wash most of the gore off. Not exactly enjoying myself at this point, I was beginning to think there may be rocks in my head. Then as I peaked the overpass a few km later, I saw a wall of rain over Albury. Yep, rocks.
I did a 180 and scuttled home. I went really fast. That, I enjoyed.

A Nice Little 150hp twin cylinder 800 2 Stroke for messin around on!! Most of the time I'm really jealous of you year round warm weather location riders ... but these machines really snap you head back!!! The Best thing about winter around here is when spring comes around and you can put the bike back on the road. In the mean time...... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Had a great Fall ride today, the trees are turning & the temperatures got up to 70*.
Testing out the map I got from Beetle for the Termignoni I got from Pete R & Bill H.
I'm very pleased; I can hear the exhaust note now at whatever revs & speed I'm at. It's not too loud, just enough. The obnoxious Harleyesque backfire is gone. I had previously sealed up & re-assembled all the exhaust believing there was a leak somewhere. But it turns out it was the fueling on over-run.
The power delivery is smoother now without the on throttle/ off throttle lurch that I had before which was irritating mid corner. Mind you this reduces the number of excuses I have for my riding skills now. And the reserve fuel light didn't come until 20 miles past it's usual place.
The tank hasn't sucked itself inside out again. So all in all, I'm a having a good day !

I don't miss working on sleds at all !! Always getting a slice from the sheet metal. Was in late 80's and 3cyl 750-900 w/chambers early FI when I quit.
Now, Did swingarm bearings on an 07 GRiSO today, everything was dry but had been greased a LITTLE BIT. They looked OK after washing, got it in time. I Knew it was dry, early stuff for CARC didn't get much. Nice to ride a G once in a while.
