| saw as 2009 white GRiSO at the Ardingly autojumble today. Sorry, no pics, as I didn't take a camera and I have no idea if it was rollerised or not. | |

| Was sampling homebrew with a mate just to witness how a pregnant woman reversed into my GRiSO that was parked along the fence. "Sorry, but that is usually not parked there" Hopefully the front mudguard is the only thing that's broken as the bike got pushed back a bit. | |

| Had a splendid day, riding with an old CBX buddy. I've never felt comfortable trying to keep up with him, but today, it felt good. He must be slowing down in his old age. 240 miles of great riding. | |

| I have, for reasons that made sense at the time at least, ridden the GRiSO less of late than it and I deserved. On Thursday, Saturday, and yesterday, I rode the Stornello and had a fine time on fun roads in stupendous weather. One dismount by my friend on Saturday was a downer — literally and figuratively — but he is young and shook that off much quicker than I did. Anyway, if you care, here's one pic from those three rides: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Ah, but the GRiSO was an itch that I had to scratch. Thus, despite a daunting and mostly undone domestic task list, I had to saddle the GRiSO and get in a few miles. And few they were. Only 16 or so, but before you smirk, know that most of those are the kind that make motorcyclists in the Flat States ache. [Pete, you and Jude rode on those when here] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Anyway, great fun, and I’ll try to get in a few more before the dark, cold gloom descends. Bill P.S. Yes, I know it’s dirty; that’s what winter in the Moto Grappa is for! | |

| Bill,
Even a short 16 miler on the GRiSO is good for one's mental health.

| Finally found myself a suspension mechanic Got so excited about the prospect of starting to get the bike sorted out or at least beginning to understand what can be done I pulled the bike out after the first frost of the season, saw the snowflake of doom on the dash for the first time & rode over to his shop. Spent 2 1/2 hours setting the sag & then the damping. Jake's a good guy, willing to explain what's going on & work with me & my constant questions. The rear sag ended up at 34mm. Free sag at 7mm with the preload rings in the middle of the range. The forks preload maxed out with a sag of 37mm. So stiffer springs are needed there. Hoping for a day or two of warmish weather to try out the new settings before the cold sets in. | |

| Well today the new pistons arrived for the 1400-ification of my GRiSO arrived.
Now this may be an epic fail as the 1400 piston and ring set weighs a considerable 27 grams more than the 1200 sets but I'm going to get an early set of 1200 barrels bored out and Nicasil plated then I'll just bolt 'em on with no balancing and see if it vibrates like a cheap sex aid!
At the same time I'll be fitting the later type sump and gubbins to my motor as well as early testing with my now 1400 powered Stelvio would seem to indicate that the oil consumption/expulsion issues experienced with 1200's that have been turned into 1400's keeping the 'Old' sump seem to be mitigated if not eradicated with the new sump. Early days but we'll see. The Stelvio uses a transplanted 1400 motor with modified heads and phase sensor mount and trigger, in all honesty a nightmare. If I can bore early 1200 barrels it will make far more sense. It just depends how much it shakes.

merci Richard. I'll have to go back and get the GRiSO lines to converge with the tracks. Peter | |
