Sorry, that's the only Pic I got. He was overwhelmed, lots of people were away for Christmas but those there were all over him like a rash.
It would seem that there would be a good cause for a crowd funding effort.i'll explain a bit later in a new thread. Probably in the 'Darkened Recess' I'd think unless anybody else has a suggestion of a better place?
Also any advice on how to actually set up a crowdfunding site would help!
Thanks.
Pete

Thanks and of course it took a lot of time. I am (located in Germany) using "OptiGlanz", "Autosol" and "abrazo stainless steel" pads.
.... and it might not last long

So, having dealt with the bent reaction arm, I thought it a good idea to grease the swing arm & shock link bearings whilst working in that area. So following Pete's guide, removed wheel, removed bevel box, removed side plates, removed nuts from 2 of the link bolts & that where things ground to a halt. Can I get the bolt to move, can I be buggered. Â So before I apply heat and a big hammer, am I missing something? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Pictures of the offending bolts.

Paggers, try some home made penetrene, before you get violent - equal parts Automatic Transmission Fluid and Acetone, sprayed into both sides. Normall this should simply come out with a "small" amount of "encouragement". The fact it is not easy is probably why you need to be in there in the first place. On reassembly, use some antisieze.

Thanks for the prompt reply Tony. I doused in penetrating oil before I packed up for the night, so we'll see what happens in the morning. Probably never been touched since the day it was born.

I'm wondering if it is possibly bent.
Encountered that on the Norge at the top end of its monoshock.
It was "exciting" to remove.

If you look at the parts list pic of the linkage you can see that the bolt passes through a 'Bush' that is in fact the inner race of the linkage bearings if the bolt will turn but is reluctant to come out it is probably rusted into the race. Is you use heat you will destroy the bearing seals at the outside of the linkage.
At this point in time, given that the bolt appears to be rusted in I'm guessing that the linkage bearings will be toast. If this is the case it's cheaper to buy a complete new linkage, (Grease it well before installation.) than replacing the bearings and seals individually.
Also try and remove the other bolts and then take the linkage and offending bolt to the bench. You may need a press to get the bolt out and it may well be sacrificial.

Thanks Pete, at the moment I can't even turn either bolt. Looks like this is going to be a costly exercise.

I had trouble removing bolts first time and vaguely remember using clamp to release bottom one (Large socket over bolt head to allow it to move whilst 100% straight squeeze with clamp)....
....if it's truely fckd They come up on ebay (ex-stock) for GBP 49.50 every now & then (I bought one for just-in-case); but looks like TLM have stock new one at Euro 147.62 or half that for a good used one so not terrible price....assuming you can remove the old one !

Well, so far I've managed to remove 2 of the 4 linkage bolts. The 2 left are the ones connecting the fork link to the frame and the connecting block to the swing arm. All the bearings are effectively seized, no wonder the rear suspension seemed a bit stiff. Â At least the swing arm moved freely once the link was disconnected and the pin came out fairly easily. The saga continues.

Don't be fooled. Pull the swingarm. I'll bet your bearings will look like this

Oohh, don't worry, I intend to. Just got the swing arm pin out before beer o'clock. Inspection tomorrow.

Good news and bad news today. Good is the swing arm bearings look good with some grease in them. Bad is the remaining 2 linkage bolts will not shift, no way no how, had to resort to cutting them out. Got the fork link out the frame and sourced a second hand replacement. The bolt was seized solid in the sleeve. Attacking the other one tomorrow.

2 more days till I get Black Betty out of enforced hibernation. Really I can't wait. I have been in the air conditioning, for the last few days, listening to many of our brethren playing up and down the gearbox up the hill from me.
Come on Wednesday!

What Tony said. Went for a coffee to Patonga, nice morning ride but too many cars with orange stickers hiding in the bushes. Coffee was good though. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
