| Took a ride down to CA Route 198 and over to Coalinga. This is the road that Motor Trend used recently for their “Best Driver’s Car” comparison. I am fortunate to have this amazing stretch of road nearby and can do an easy one-day ride down Highway 25 to 198, have lunch in Coalinga and get back before dark. Gorgeous weather today too! Rode with my friend who has a Vstrom 650. These roads are so much fun and have almost zero traffic; you can go whatever speed you like. We were having too much fun to stop for pictures on route 198, but here’s a couple at a detour along Hwy 25. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| One last problem with dismantling the swing arm linkage. Having cut the 2 remaining bolts, the Allen bolt head is absolutely solid in the swing arm. I've started to drill it out, but before I go any further, can anyone tell me if the hole in the swing arm is parallel all the way through, or is it stepped. Cheers Mick | |

Cheers Mick Can't remember for sure. To be safe drill just the head and stop, take a drift and a BFG hammer and wack it in the center. If head comes out you'll know.

| Yesterday was 43 and raining, no riding.
Better than -10 and snow.
Guaranteed no snow this year, I tuned up the snow blower last week. Really, haven't used it in three years. Not since winter of '13 with the f'in Polar Vortex -15-20 for weeks. Makes working outside fun.

| 60* and Sunny, I'm going. We can't all live in FL!! Might show up at Camp Carlo this year though. Selling my V700's that are apart would help. | |

| The first day of 2019 (yesterday) and the first ride of the year. Its the middle of summer here in NZ and its hot enough to cause the roads to melt.. (by the way, whats the best way to remove melted tar splatters?) We left Napier reasonably early a.m to avoid the traffic and heat and headed for Taupo. Very little traffic and a few other bikers on the road. Taupo was tourist hell, so we took off around the lake to Turangi which was marginally better but still packed with random human beings in holiday mode.. After a some lunch at a cafe we decided to leave the insanity and hit the road back home. More traffic and more heat by now. Thankful for long passing lanes but wary of the semi liquid road surface. Home in one piece, beer oclock! Tempted to do something similar today | |

| We rode - oh the joy, sublime, and few dickheads.
Of course the now obligatory chat with a bloke in blue to see if I had been on the piss all night, and if I still had a licence. All good - then 1 km to work. Can't wait for this afternoon, as I head south again.
Been breathalysed 3 times in the last week, all at the same spot. They've got nothing on me!
