Put it into hibernation - my riding season has ended.
Took this photo on the way to the garage that will take care of it during the winter. Did you doubt that Grisos are made in heaven? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Well, since it's spring I suppose it's time to service the Green Horror. It needs new tyres anyway so up it goes and off come the wheels.
Then I'd better Do the oils.
And if I do that perhaps I should take the shock off and get Laurie to overhaul it and put that new spring in that Wayne sent me.
If I'm doing that I might as well drop the swingarm off and repack the bearings. Oh, and the shock linkage.
And when it goes back together I can put that bevelbox that Michael rebuilt on it and see if it makes any odd noises, (I doubt it will.)
And since I'm in that far I suppose I could see if those Rox risers I've got lying about will fit and give me a bit more pull back to ease my poor old bod.
I think it's about time for a belt as well.....
Why do I start stuff like this???

Well, I've got the new tyres but I've gone down the rabbit hole. Shock is with Laurie, linkages are being greased again but since I have the bike on the factory stand I pulled up the airbox to heft the shock out of the top. I wonder what else I can fuck about with while I'm in there? I suppose I could fix up the hole in the underguard at the back. That might quell its appetite for air filters......

The return of the 2007 continues: Hard starting seems to be solved with fresh gas and injector cleaner. I adjusted the clutch plunger to put the friction zone in the middle of the lever travel. Shifting is less clunky as a result. Ordered new tires as the front is shagged and the rear is near its sell-by date. Pipes look nice after cleaning and look a uniform golden color.

FINALLY, got in a ride on the GRiSO today.
Only a 70-mile loop, but a delight, especially, as the Long.Cold.Dark looms.
Here are some pix. A slideshow comes soon that has more and some pix of two repair items. For now, these must do:

Today promised — and delivered — to make impending winter fight for a toehold. That meant I wanted to get another ride in on the GRiSO as opportunities are fading quickly.
Kathi decided we should do a reprise of her Bataan Death March hikes, so that came first …
Then, it was GRiSO time. As with yesterday, I’ve been on all of those roads before, but they are so fine that repetition is no chore. Then, on return, it was a try for "The Last G&T of 2020." I suspect that will fail, but it was just the right thing this evening.
I still intend to cobble these all into a slideshow, but I am a charter member of the “Road to Hell Paving Company,” so my good intentions aren’t worth much. In the meantime, here are a few:

Finally got around to doing the TB balance. Wasn't actually required. High speed balance was spot-on, and the left air bleed went exactly back to where it was prior.
Then I attached the modifiedbutchered customised pannier brackets, in anticipation of next weekend's cabal.

The wheels are off and waiting for my neighbor's tire machine availability. I removed the Stucchi plate relocator (for sale BTW) in favor of one under the tail. While I finagled it into place a sheen of copper caught my eye. I took out the snorkel and saw bare wire! Apparently, a rodent had spent some time tasting the insulation in the tail. I will be taking that apart and re-insulating while I wire up the new license plate light. On the plus side the local DMV turned my registration around in under a week. So if my bike had wheels, and wiring, I could ride it legally![You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Got Black Betty passed for rego - good for another year! Left the GT Reverse COne Megaphone on - usually put the original on for rego - nil problemo.
Mine is not a town bike - need a good trip to get rid of some cobwebs. Work announced today that too many people have too much leave, due to COVID - book some now is the advice. Hmmm.

MOT passed (was extended 6 months during last lockdown & I was wondering if I'd get another extension with the new lockdown coming but easier to just bite the £20 bullet)......roads require slightly more care with wet leaves but with lockdown coming any riding time will be grabbed !

Hooked up a battery maintainer, in anticipation of good weather both Wednesday and Friday. Voltage was 11.7v so a little topping off was in order.

Checked all fluids, tires pressure, ready for one last long ride, weather forecaster to be unusually wonderful this w/e in Ontario and Quebec, sunny 16/17C. (Yesterday we got the first dusting of snow, soon melted).

47 degrees this afternoon but I had to get a short ride in. '07 1100 is not short on grunt and the brakes are amazing. Spun it around the neighborhood to scrape some of the mold release off the tires. Off to the friendly neighborhood Harley dealer to get an inspection tomorrow.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Installed my rebuilt shock with revised shimming and a 12.5kg spring rather than the brutal 14KG one it came with. Then wheels back on, new oil and filter, new tyres, (Doncha love new tyres!) and I'm all set for Tumut this weekend. Hooray!
