| You lucky bastard Pete. That was one of the things I really liked about living in Canberra. The run over the Clyde to Bateman's Bay. An absolute blast. Especially with no coppers and little traffic. | |

| Here is a mod / version of a GRiSO. Not sure how the rear suspension works or the front for that matter but looks interesting [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| That looks like the rear suspension set up they had on a couple of Carc show bikes Guzzi did a few years ago. | |

| Weather was nice in Dallas this evening so I went for a basic freeway romp. I haven't been riding much this year in general so I'm trying to get some city riding in. It was going great until I was wrapping up a phone call, turned my back to the machine and my helmet -which had been happily resting on the gas tank between the grips - made a run for it. Full drop, smashed up the aero/vent crap on the back of the helmet. Not great. Monday I get to call Arai and beg them for some replacement doo-dads to fix my helmet.

| 44 degrees in the NYC exurbs. I ran some errands and enjoyed the empty back roads. A little chilly but exhilarating to be in the wind instead of in the minivan. | |

| Rode from Bright over Tarwonga Gap to Mount Beauty for coffee (and pastry of course) and returned via Rose White. Nice cool day only 23C. No traffic and some great twisties over the Gap. | |

| Took GRiSO to Motocicclo (wimping out on the ride to Bungendore) for a service and check of an ongoing oil leak. Picked the bike up running smooth for about 4 kms then one cylinder decided it no longer wanted to play. Got home checked cables and now GRiSO ran on two cylinders. Went for a ride and the bike was smooth, powerful and running just as Luigi intended. Stopped for coffee and just stared at GRiSO while I drank up. Then GRiSO decided I was paying too much attention to the coffee and decided to leak oil again. John at Motocicclo did warn me that he spent some time on the top end but could not find anything significant. Back to Motocicclo, where John fitted me in ASAP (good bloke). Picked up bike again, this time with new plug caps (NGK) and John having pulled apart both top ends. He asked me to go away and ride for an extended period to see if oil tight, but I could tell he was not greatly confident. Anyhow off I went ready to ride on the weekend and it pissed down. Being a fairweather rider I declined to go out and test and now I am working for next two weeks and cant ride So in a week or two I will know if I have an oil tight GRiSO or the shits! Offered to buy Motocicclos last GRiSO offering mine as a trade, but John reckons I would be better of selling privately. Thing is I am too honest and would tell the potential new owner of the leak as I can't stomach the thought of passing on troubles to someone else. | |

I am not a smart man. :\ I had the same thing happen to my HJC helmet. They said due to liability insurance problems they couldn't sell me any parts to replace the broken bits. They said they would have to inspect the helmet themselves, and they would replace the parts for me. After checking on the cost of shipping, I decided to glue my parts back together, and possibly buy a new helmet in a few years. Stupid eh?

| My brother did the same, broke the top vent. Went to the bike shop and they ordered the part in, no problemo. |

| Hi Pete, I was sure it was coming from the plug tube O-rings (both sides), I checked the grub screws (oil gallery) and could not see anything from there. John and Luke spent a fair bit of time, they did find a crimped o-ring on the back of the right cylinder (oil line?) and changed it but the leak came back but reduced. Any how they have had another go and put a heap of sealant (can't remember brand stop leak or something like that) and now I just have to have a long ride. As I said I am working and wont be doing that for a bit. If it comes back I'll get some photos. As always thanks for the interest in helping us lesser beings. | |

| Went for a quick squirt that included a logging run. I had shite day and needed a mental shit, as they say. As all my worries were blown out the end of the Mistral, I had a bit of a revelation. This thing steers better than it ever did! Pete or Michael, or perhaps both together simultaneous, had replaced the steering head bearings during the 1400 transplant. Woohoo! Oh, frabjous day! I always thought the slow steering was due to the 14 foot wheel base. It may simply have been bad bearings or poor adjustment. Win! --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! . | |

Whenever I "retire" a helmet, I remove all the parts I can and save 'em in a bag. No, I'm not a hoarder. OK, yes, I am , but my Shoeis in particular seem to let those little nylon fasteners at the visor hinges back out and disappear. So, no Arai, but I do have a few bags of Shoei and HJC bits. Post or PM if need some. Also extra visors for same. Bill P.S. OK, I forgot. I also shoot the old helmets before throwing 'em away. Have been using the Beretta .40 cal; thinking about trying the 12 gauge next time. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| Well I went out for my customary morning ride and on the back road to Tarago came barreling round a corner and up ahead was an echidna slowly meandering across the road. I had time to pull up and park the bike and then had to spend five minutes flagging down cars from both directions while numb-nuts slowly made his way to the verge! I tied picking him up but his spines went straight through my summer gloves. I couldn't *encourage* him with my boot as he did that 'Hang onto the ground for grim death' thing they do and even on tar he wasn't budging!
Eventually he got to the side and it was nice that the vast majority of the people I'd held up and inconvenienced gave me the 'Thumbs Up' as they drove off. It's nice when you find that not everyone in the world is a complete bastard!

| As long as it's safe to do so I'll stop for just about anything sub-wallaby sized. At this time of year there are lots of turtles and lizards on the move. I'll always try and stop for them. Snakes? I'm a bit more ambivalent about snakes!
One of the biggest problems we have around here are the huge numbers of Eastern Grey 'Roos. These bastards can be enormous and you really don't want to hit them. Worse than deer and just as quick, they're one of the main reasons I don't ride at night or dawn and dusk any more. Buggers are still out there in the day though!
