| Hadn't romped for a bit with the GRiSO, so decided to run it in the area for a couple of hours. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Unfortunately, that's as far as I got. Time was ticking, so I went to the Norge ... another reason for having a moto-harem. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Had no idea Kathi was in the wood line snapping pix. Anyway, when I got back -- I do love that Norge; a bit of a pig on tight roads I was on, but still game to try -- I put the GRiSO on the lift. With Kathi's help, I should add, as it is a no fun pushing that beast around on the gravel, up into the garage, then on to the lift. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Anyone who thinks the no-start had something to do with the expired state inspection sticker fails. Nah, the classic Fuse B. Have seen several threads on that here and elsewhere and will start running that to ground (NPI) in a a few days. I want to ride the GRiSO to Erie when we get back from Europe at the end of the month. Anyway, to cap off the afternoon with a success, I then took my Stornello out on the back of our place for its first real dirt run. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Life is good. And will be better when I sort out the electrical issue on the GRiSO. Bill | |

| Hi Dennis, Wondering what mirrors you are using and whether you get a god view past your. shoulders? The stock ones are a bit wider than the standard bars and give me the shits with lane filtering. ;-/

| Yes, Dennis's are the stock offerings. All the GRiSO 1100s and the early 8V 1200s had the chromed mirrors. The subsequent 1200SE GRiSOs mounted up the ubiquitous Aprilia mirrors in the textured, black plastic. I for one much prefer the look and vibration damping of the Aprilia mirrors. They are interchangeable. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]2012 MOTO GUZZI GRiSO 1200SE2013 MOTO GUZZI STELVIO 1200NTX - Orange Blossom Special | |

| A day in the Garage for me and the dog today, At 34000 km I reckoned it was time to have a look at the grease situation on the Headstock bearings. I was pleasantly surprised that they were in good order and were still rolling in a small lick of grease [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]" /> Cleaned them up and slapped a good dollop of waterproof grease on and they shouldn't need looking at for a long time. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]" /> Decided to change the fork oil as well (first time) and put 5w oil in and moved the forks up to show another line above the triple clamp. Done a bit of fiddling with the settings and took her for a spin, all seems good I don't have the spondulocks to splash out on a proper suspension upgrade yet, but will in time. | Took the weekend off & rode over to Marietta in SE Ohio ( where the blue dot is in the pic, bottom LH corner ). Set off today & rode Route 26 ( sorry to get the whole image in one pic the OSMand map app is backed out to the point the road numbers aren't there ) which goes from Marietta to Woodfield. Then I kept riding down the brown roads & up the next brown road making my way East till I got to Clarington. Where I took the 7 back the 40 miles to the Airbnb. Apart from 26 most of these roads follow on the ridges down to the Ohio River, so you have the twisties but also some stunning views either side of the road as the ground falls away. Makes it abit butt pukering on occasion but if you ever have the chance come & ride some of these amazing roads [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Turfed the Rox risers and put the stock jobbies back on plus Onur's risers. The Rox let too many vibes thru to the bars. The Napoleon mirrors are still shaky, but not nearly as bad. They work really well on the V7, just not for big blocks I guess. Could be my 3rd party bars I suppose. Also bled the clutch, then (gasp), washed it! | Summer's here. 32 glorious degrees today. I added some internal weight to the bars to see if I could get vibe free mirrors. Nup. Mirrors are good at 4500 RPM only. What gives? The gynaecologist's speculum's worked across the rev range. Humph. Might have to toss the Napoleons and get more speculums. 0ne fun thing on the ride was I hit a small pterosaur at speed. Aside from whiplash, my entire visor was covered in chitin and haemolymph. | I went to the Italian Motorcycle Owners Club (IMOC) rally in Sturbridge today. Sorry no pics! Moto Guzzis were well represented. There were two other GRiSOs on the concourse, though I didn't see the owners with their bikes and I am not sure whether they are members here or not. It was a well attended event with quite a few rare marques showing. | |

Ya, I was there on a brand new Black Devil, but didn't stay very long. It was such a nice day and I've been very busy with work so I wanted to get some miles in..... Nice roads out that way.

| Took the GRiSO to Port Campbell on the south west coast of Victoria today. It ran like a dream, and even with some spirited riding and passing slow vehicles, I still got an average consumption of 5.1 litres per 100km. | |

I Know, Right! I bought my first GRiSO in 2013, and that Sturbridge Rally is the only place I have ever seen another one.

| Well, yesterday, not today. So … N.J. Nick, who lives in “Greater Philly,” parked his pickup here last Thursday so he could ride his Tuono down to the W.V. rally at Pipestem. Before he left, I had him help me get a mailbox post out of the ground so I could put in a new one. This becomes relevant later. Anyway, I went to Pipestem last year, but outlaw duty called me to Erie this year. Sigh. If terminally bored, slideshow of that trip here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Back to today’s regular programming … I wanted to get in a ride on the GRiSO as I have been off of it (and my others) for a month with our Europe trip and more. So, Nick and I arranged to meet in Franklin, W.V., on his return, which would give him some company and introduce him to some local great roads, and give me a fun 200-miler in some stupendous riding weather. We both got to Franklin as planned … but never found each other! Long story involving two rally points and other brain cramps. Turns out we were both wondering and worrying where the other was ... while less than a 1000M apart! We both decided to leave the other to his fate and started back. Nick beat me home, and you can see below how he looked when I arrived. Here are some pix of this minor and fun adventure. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Meanwhile, in Erie, a gift from our hotel window: The U.S. Brig Niagara ... "Don't Give Up the Ship!” [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Then on return, off to Franklin and the Star Hotel, i.e., what I thought was the meeting point. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]“Some People” living in my house have not seen this pic of my “appetizer.” I didn’t take one of the entree as it embarrassed even me. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]On leaving, I decided not to take this road … [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]… but enjoyed, especially, Sweedlin Valley Road between Flat Oak and Mooresville, W.V. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Looking upstream (south) … [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Trying to be an artist like street. yes, I know; FAIL. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Nick beat me home … you gotta love it when a complex plan comes together. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Naturally, I was in time to provide some managerial supervision … [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Tho, of course, I let Nick take complete credit for the project. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Then it was time for Nick to head home into the sun and Baltimore-Philadelphia traffic … [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Seriously, we had a fine time and my GRiSO ran like the joyful magical mechanical instrument it is.
