| Getting ready to ride mine to Erie, Pa., tomorrow. 300-mile, all two-laner trip. So fine. My f-i-l has 94th birthday party on Saturday. Still active and agile. Might be because of his 82-YO girlfriend. Back by different back-road route on Sunday or Monday. Bill | |

If you got no hope locally, ship it up and I'll get done for you here in Bris bain. Might have to take you up on that. The go-to guy here is 1) not keen on doing bike wheels, and 2) is not set up for single-sided swing arm wheels anyway. So either I send it up to you or buy another. . --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! .

So either I send it up to you or buy another. Beetle: TLM has some used wheels for sale: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Bought a Marchesini with the appropriate part number from TLM a few weeks ago but was surprised to see that it was Made in China. Cost was $313USD, shipped to Seattle.

| Almost 1.5 year after Mark kindly sent me a copy of his map for the 1100, I finally got the courage today to actually install it. Main reasons for the delay were the fact that the TBs needed to be synchronized and the valves checked, but especially I had to overcome my fear to "fool around" with flashing an ECU and suddenly having a "motorcycle-paperweight" in my shed... . But done it this morning, and with the aid of Beetle's tutorial it couldn't be easier. Then I took the beast out for a 100km run, and wow, what a difference!! Much smoother (especially noticeable at low speeds), more responsive, and less vibration. Thanks Mark, your time and effort is very much appreciated!!!! (P.S. payment is done!) | |

| Well on the weekend it was actually fine for the first time in just about forever so I decided to go for a ride down to the coast, probably the last chance I'll have before we depart for Europe.
One day I'll do this run and take pics but it's very hard to stop as the road is magnificent, if heavily policed, and they've just hot-mixed some of the best bits. It's still rough as guts at the top of the mountain where they are widening and straightening the road, (Boo!-Hiss!) but it was a great run. A balmy 22 degrees in Moruya where I stopped for fish and chips before heading back.
The Golden Wattle is beginning to come out too! That means winter is half done. By the time I get back the 'riding season' should be in full swing!

| Rode the GRiSO to work today, and after work decided to take the long way home (as in 3+ hours). All back roads to the historic Elbe Church then looped back around home. I've been riding the Norge more lately as I fiddle with the valves and fueling and trying to work out a few kinks so i was suprised at how different and refreshing the GRiSO felt. Everything on the GRiSO is taught, sharp and works with purpose. Ride, clutch and brake engagement, even the directional switch are tighter and sharper than on the Norge. The GRiSO is hard and visceral, and the Norge is smooth.... Though valvetrain is louder on the Norge, the engine is more isolated, with little vibration making it to grips. The controls, brakes, clutch lever are all much 'softer & easier." The directional switch on the GRiSO moves with almost a click, and has twice the resistance of the switch on the Norge. The GRiSO feels alive under you, every pulse of the motor is felt in an awesome subdued pulse, almost as if there is a 1/4 of high density rubber isolating just enough to take the edge off. This makes sense as the Norge has a LD mission. The loop I took today is one I have done a few times on the Norge and the GRiSO, and while the direct taught feel of the GRiSO is refreshing and intoxicating, it will tire you out faster than the Norge which is smooth except for the trans which is a bit klunky compared to the GRiSO. | 'Twas a sunny day here, so I took my life into my own hands and went for a quick blatt. GRiSO didn't want to go into first gear when cold. Twas a bit nippy at speed. Exhaust didn't fall off. . --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! . | |

| Fitted a new rear tyre and added a right angle tyre valve stem. Whilst I think PR4's are the best tyres I have ever used, thought I would try the recently released Metzler Roadtec 01 which is the replacement for the Roadtec Z8. Did 80k's up the Old Road this afternoon to scrub it in and first impressions are good. I will have to do more km's in different conditions before I can evaluate it properly but it feels like I've still got the Michelin on the back, I hope to get som extra mileage out of the Metzler. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Had to file an angle on the base of the valve stem to clear the raised spoke mounting. | just replaced all my lubricants, saved a few quid by using 10/40 part synth auto oil and used 75/90 full synth for FD and Gear box. The gear oil was clean that came out (expected) however the engine oil filter would not budge so I drilled the filter removal tool 4X and whizzed some self drilling screws through into the filter, loadsa force needed to get it to crack and judging by the squeaking noise it initially made I suspected that the previous filter gasket had not been smeared with oil, that proved to be true as the gasket was left behind on the sump flange. Sent my motech tank ring and bag back as it was too much of a faff to remove the fillercap from the oem tank ring and fit. Also I did not like the idea of drilling a new tank bag to fit the tank ring mating part. More thought needed here.

| There is a very good reason why a full synthetic oil is specified. | |

| Being a tight wad I used what I had left from for my R1100s BCR thinking I do not need motorcycle specific oil for a dry clutch cycle also thinking what`s good for one tractor will be good for another, I see (having now read) from the manual that indeed a fully synth different viscosity is specified. Should have checked that. Thanks for the heads up Peter. It will go back into it`s container For the next tractor I buy. | |

| Paint started to flake off right hand head cooling fins and the usual alloy powder crud started to appear. Gave it a good rub with emery paper and a wire brush in drill. Repainted with engine heat resistance paint, looks OK but time will tell. The left Jug was fine and didn't even need a "lick" Rocker covers are starting to blister so will get them powder coated next. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]" /> | |
