Rode from Bowraville to Warwick QLD last Fri to watch my son racing at Morgan Park. 30mm of rain forecast for Glen Innes took my favoured Gwydir out of the equation so opted to travel the Mt Lindesay Highway instead. Possibly the worst-condition sealed road I have ever travelled on, courtesy of the ongoing heavy rains that part of the country has experienced. Many, many serious potholes and there were a number of times that the potholes all linked up to cover across both lanes of the road. Took is gently, looking for safe gaps to use and got there in the end with Gertie looking the filthiest I can remember. Coming back on Mon I used the New England Hwy. All good except that there were a number of newly-tarred areas that threw up a lot of tar spatter. I also for the first time took the very nicre Guyra Road across to Ebor and then down Waterfall Way. Unfortunately, I spent 2 hrs yesterday cleaning Gertie and she once again has shiny pipes. What a 'mare!

Finished my 6,000ml service (10,000km).
Bike running smoother again down to 2000rpm
But 3 bits of broken 14yr old plastic - 2 bodywork (one visible ) and the blasted fuel connector

I have repaired the fuel connector - the bodywork repairs will take more thought

Pics of broken plastic Jon ??....everything plastic panel is mendable IMHO, just depends how much the repair shows before a respray (or carefully positionned stickers) come into play !

The GRiSO's going good and we're past 5000 miles together now, so it's time to take this relationship further - in October I'll lose my trackday virginity, at Sonoma. I'm listening, if the Ghetto has good advice, but do be gentle.

Did manage to overtake some other poor mug who had gone out for a ride on his sportibike. He was all leathered up with knee sliders and was crawling along at 90kph. Didn't note what he was riding but wondered if it might be broken?

Well today for the first time in seemingly forever it promised to be clear and sunny and the Meteorological boffins predicted a top of 16*C!

Yeah, everyone hates the screen. I love it! It's like riding a Norge only better handling. Having said that the forks need some attention as they are still *Stock* so I'm guessing they have ten year old 10Wt. Oil in them and even with the compression and rebound wound almost all the way off they are harsh and horrid.

The Hyperpro on the back is breaking in nicely but I think it needs a bit less high speed damping.low speed and rebound seem OK.

Nice bit of new infrastructure across the Clyde river at Batemans Bay. That swanky new bridge replaced an old pre war two lane lifting bridge to allow larger boats to pass underneath. It was one of the biggest bottlenecks on the south coast. Hooray!

Yesterday I replaced the original (6 yr and three month old) battery with a new like Yuasa, and later that day realized my rear tire was shot. So this morning I got a new Dunlop mounted up and rode up the famous Rt. 555 in eastern Ohio. Whoo-Hoo!! What a road. Had a triple dip bowl of ice cream to celebrate at Tom's Ice Cream Bowl in Zanesville Ohio.

Went to a custom car and bike show and spotted this strange GRiSO conversion.
Owner new plenty about it but could do fuckall if something went wrong with it.

Looks like direct injection cylinder heads (diesel?) In a GRiSO frame. But barrels are round finned so a pushrod engine? What information do you have?

Its two valve pushrod 1300cc, water and air cooled some company in italy knocks them out. 120bhp.

Yeah, they were a *Thing* a decade or more ago. Whole lot of answer to a question nobody was really asking. I got into a stoush with some knob about the whole silly concept about then. He turned up on some board bragging about how awesome it was and I asked why would you bother with the 8V just around the corner? He 'Went off' and told me I was just jealous because I 'Couldn't afford one', (The whole package came with some outrageous price tag.) and made a whole load of noise about how if he ever met me I'd be sorry and what would I know anyway, etc, etc.

The whole thing sort of faded away after after that. Silly. But each to their own.....

Fuck knows his claims couldnt be substantiated as he didnt have much of a mechanical or electrical veiwpoint. The world is full of owner riders with more money than sense. Was surpised to spot it though as much as seeing the Devon Moto Guzzi Club Tent it was parked next to.

Cleaned my throttle bodies and that air pump thing I forget the name of.
Beetles map still surges quite strong at low speed but the farting and fluffing is significantly less prevailent.
But for the excessive tickover at higher temps prefer the factory map as surging is almost non existant and the power delivery is less intense.
If the bike is fixable I will sort it otherwise will get shot and you'll all be well glad to see the last of me am certain
Be doing the sump gaskets today as top end seems a bit too noisy when hot, not certain if it still makes that wooshing sound when it starts so could be low oil pressure due to that gasket failing.
Picked up some Amsoil 10W 60 as has the best shear resistance on the planet oil wise and retains its viscosity no matter how its treated temperature wise.

Not today, but over the past week, I went to a gathering for CBX's in Marietta, Ohio. I took the GRiSO as my CBX is lacking at the moment.

Day one, suited up and swing a leg over the bike, hit the button and get one grunt. Try again..... switch to "mode" and see I have 11.7 volts. ( Six years and three months on original ) Called local mega dealer and he has the correct replacement in stock. $155us later, I have an operating bike.

After a spirited ride on some fresh pavement, I see that my rear tire is badly worn, in an odd pattern. Hmmm. Air pressure is 32 psi. That might be acceptable if I weighed 140#. But I don't. Back to the Mega Shop and select a new Dunlop rear. which they mounted and balance the next morning. After being careful to properly torque the hub bolts to 88.3 lb/ft, using my magic torque elbow. I discovered that this tire is quite acceptable, despite being cheap at $205 all in. It's now scuffed in nicely, with just a hint of unused strip on one side.

Marietta has some great roads around there ! Did you get out on 26 heading south ? I was wondering if you’d got that far east after you made the comment about riding 555.

We stayed in Marietta for 5 days. Did 550/555, 26 and 260, 821, 145, and some others, both north and south of the river. North part of 555 from the little grocery to Zanesville was fresh pavement, as was 260.

GRiSO was happy. I was playing with the throttle trying to make it mis-behave, as others have commented the Beetle map is less than perfect. I disagree. In 5 days, I got it to pop on over-run just twice. And it pulls well from 2000 rpm. 4th gear is lovely from 20 mph to over 100 mph.

5 days of riding around Marietta is my idea of Heaven
