| While this may be stating the bleeding obvious I have a feeling that given some of the problems people are having after remapping with Guzzidiag Writer it should be said.
Regardless of the provenance of new maps or even the factory offerings bikes are not going to perform well if they are not serviced and tuned properly.
If the throttle bodies are not balanced, if the idle stop screw has been messed with, if the linkage rod has been fiddled with, if both air bleeds are open or any of a myriad of other small things are maladjusted or overlooked no amount of re-mapping will make the bike run sweetly.
If you don't have the tools or wherewithal and knowledge to service and set up your bike properly? Please, take it to someone who does before you embark on trying to alter the mapping! It will make your and every body else's lives so much easier and will prevent muddying of the waters with regard to building maps.

| At the last Dyno session I asked for TPS and TB reset/balance. I watched from a distance as mechanic operated on things on the left hand side. He is not a Guzzi specialist.
Now I'm scared. Did he mess with the infamous yellow peril? If I get that sorted, will it then mess with the dyno settings?
Who in Brisbane can I trust to do this properly?
You're only $385 by truck away Pete (one way). Believe me, it's a serious option. |

| Because Bellagios use a weird sort of hybrid TB arrangement you have to use the same sort of procedure as the Calis for TB balance.then when you re-set the TPS it doesn't seem to change anything.

| I would just like to add that if you get a map from me you need to 100% up front about the state of tune and mods your bike has. I know that pretty much everyone on this forum has been, but I've had a couple of personages ask for a map for a stock bike only to tell me I'm an arse and my map made their bike run like crap. Afterwards they sometimes tell me they have ripped off the airbox and put pods on plus a Tickety-boo Chrome Vasculator Exhaust with bolt on Ion Accumulators guaranteed to add 100 horses while making you irresistible to the opposite sex. I may have made that bit up about 100 horses. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! . | |

| Pete, the bellagio has a california vintage TB, and that should not be used with TPS reset. Maybe they cut out the tps reset function so it can do no harm. With the 15RC ecu it can. TPS reset is only for linear TPS. | |

| Makes sense. Earlier smallblocks are the same.

| Spikey Helmets - now they are special indeed! At speed, when you wave to your fellow Guzzisti, the wind will catch your hand and impale it on said spike on helmet - right royal bitch to get off in a hurry. Oh yeah, painful too...
Better stick with normal helmets, I say

| Just curious, has anyone downloaded a map and perused it for data integrity following an oddly performing bike post upload?
I'm just wondering if there could be any hardware/GuzziDiag compatibility hiccups which perhaps could result in a loss of map integrity after upload. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]2012 MOTO GUZZI GRiSO 1200SE2013 MOTO GUZZI STELVIO 1200NTX - Orange Blossom Special

| Steve, I had a few issues with downloaded maps that I thought were corrupted. These exhibited a high idle which got higher - never lower. Mark and I discussed this and I downloaded subsequent maps from his domain instead of through email (he also had some trouble sending me emails for a bit - maybe not related).
In hindsight, it might actually be the crappy old laptop I use (runs Windows 2000, Pentium 3, takes a week to fire up and the single USB port has rust all around it - I got it new in 1999 and it was state of the art then) and some indefinite connections. Sometime it takes 2,3 or 4 goes to upload a map so maybe something there...
I have not checked for data integrity at all - I am trusting the modern world to live up to the general expectation of sorting itself out without my intervention. Oh, my glasses are rosy too!

| Steve, that's why I ask to confirm the checksum before flashing.
If there's any corruption, the checksum should be different. I always include the checksum as part of the file name. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! .

| Confirming checksum before flashing would certainly rule out any dataloss following map transmission via email. What I am wondering about is whether certain potential hardware/GuzziDiag miscompatibilities might result in a compromised map upload. Issues described by Oz1200Guzzi, and the spotty connections experienced with the latest Mac OSX versions.
Point being is that there is a great deal of inconsistency in the hardware being used by all of the varied members who are using your maps. All tuning aside, it seems odd to me that two very similarly set up bikes could respond so diametrically following the upload of the same map.
Can one confirm the integrity of the checksum once it has been flashed to the ECU?
FWIW, every single bike I have flashed with your maps and my hardware has run flawlessly and resulted in blissful ownership. | As a test of this - if after a map upload the bike seems to run badly I'd say perform a download of the map and then compare the two files. If they are different then you know something is up (unless the downloader inserts some data into the file like a timestamp, but I doubt it). I'll try this tonight to see if a download (from my ECU) of Mark's latest matches what he emailed me.
Just loading the newly downloaded map into the writer app and viewing the checksum should be enough. If you're running a Mac, you should be able to use the diff command in a terminal shell (unless they left it out).
