Buyer for my harley turned up today, showed him bike went to start and f*cker was having non of it. Got no mains in garage and been on too many local short journeys. Not ridden it for over a week. Offered buyer his deposit back but he was determined to have it Mate turned up 20 mins later a quick jump start and bike was sorted. 4 subsequent starts before he set off for his 470 mile journey home showed him battery was still charging. 100 miles home stopping for fuel and he phones me up panicked bike wont start!! help!! Run him through the trouble codes and tell him bike is in gear with sidestand down. He's like no mate it's not! ....chugga chugga ..oh shit so it is

It may of been moved but from the sound of it running it didn't seem to be showing any of the common symptoms of screw molestation. Don't touch it until you can hook Guzzidiag up and look at the TPS value and don't re-set the TPS if the value is far from 4.8.

This will be particularly noticeable at small throttle openings. If the linkage rod ball joints have been moved things get immeasurably worse!
If the throttle stop screw on the LH throttlebody is still sealed with yellow paint chances are the TB's will be OK. If it's been dug out and it looks like the screw has been moved? Tread carefully and carry a big stick.
Matey reckoned at low throttle openings the surging is quite bad, ball joints do not look to have been messed with, have yet to see the TPS. My experience of FI bikes is surging is bad at low speeds, that a map applied thats non emission controlled (dealer maps are emission controlled) a beetle map effectively richens the mixture and smooths the surging out to a greater degree though not completely? So tickover is controlled by a stepper motor not in software? Why would anyone mess with those screws without first researching what they do. These are not mechanical carburettors.

Bottom is the bell-crank screw, adjusted when performing the high-speed balance.
Target idle is set in the map, and the ECU uses the stepper to try to meet target idle. If the throttle stop has been messed with, and the TPS reset, I'd run away.
People mess with them because they are clueless morons!

Cool so that scew can be moved Am a clueless moron but prefer to get my clues off those what know before progressing with the messing. Pete seems to think it sounds ok. Map has not been changed to one of yours. Matey reckons it has latest whatever the dealer supplies. Think he was bullshitting there as tappets not been done for 5 years as only ridden 2.5k miles in that time. He does oil changes himself so its not been near the dealer. Is TPS reset potentially applied every time map is changed?

It should be. Also during every throttle body balance.
