| Had Steak help me install some Koso heated grips last weekend when he was over from Moses Lake to see the Ropers. Took her for a ride to our monthly Guzzi Club breakfast at Krain Corner in Enumclaw this morning, grips worked great! Man, I love riding the Diavolo Nero - must get off the sidecar more. Bill I don't know about that, Bill, looks to me like there might have been a glacier there once upon a time. | Well I finally went out to the shed and pulled the GRiSO out of the darkness. Two months it had been sitting through the depths of winter. I'd also, in my haste before I left, forgotten to disconnect the battery so the immobiliser light had been flashing away the whole time and I expected it would need a charge. But no, turn the key, press the button and it fired right up!
A chilly ride into Canberra ensued and it was like catching up with an old friend! I'd been feeling pretty down in the dumps about Michael's crash and somewhat ambivalent about riding. Glad I overcame that, riding has always been one of my life affirming joys.

| Nice one Pete. Sounds like it was good for your soul. If you don't make the rally I'll catch up with you when I get back in a couple of weeks. | |

| Just be careful riding out this way. The 'roos are in plague proportions and the wombats are in a phalanx close behind! There were seven wombat carcasses, all pretty fresh, on the way up Smith's Gap and between the top and bottom of Mac's Reef Rd I counted twenty seven fresh-ish roo cadavers! Six or seven of them were sixfooters!
Be careful out there, especially on the way to the rally. I'm picking up Michaels Aprilia this morning, I'll be inspecting it closely for fur!

| Land barge did aright. Drank petrol like a bastard though. 7.2L/100km. That may have something to do with the map though, not the cargo. Engine never got above 80 degrees. Stink of petrolatum filled my nostrils at every stop. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! . | |

| Have you cured the chuffing and smoke puffing yet? If not I fear your deciding it didn't need oil might require a re-ring.

| A bunch of the guys from the V11LeMans forum get together this coming weekend at Tellico Plains in Tennessee. I like to get here early cos it's too far to ride just for 2 days & it's a Birthday treat I can get past Management. Tellico is on the edge of the Smoky mountains and some great riding roads, miles and miles of curves sometimes with no straight bits involved. The iconic road here is Tail of the Dragon. What I find I enjoy the most is the chance to practise and practise riding the curves, setting up the corner, braking, throttle off & throttle on. I'm not a skilled rider and this area gives me time to get better so much quicker than back home. Many of the corners are constant sweeping curves allowing me to lean the bike over & then see if I can change the line a bit, tighten up the line with a bit more throttle. Then try the next corner with a different body position. I'm getting spoiled here! But what I did want to also say was how much I'm enjoying the GRiSO. Changing the rear shock to a working version, adjusting it for sag and it has become such a confidence inspiring machine. Running the curves I'm keeping the revs up higher than I do normally 4 - 7K & even with the original muffler, it's a glorious wail coming from the bike. Couldn't be happier ! Oh yes I could; when I get a Beetle map installed to smooth out the snatchy throttle. | |

| Today I took Coramba Rd/Orara Way from Coffs Harbour to Grafton. Really enjoyed it just toddling along. Then west onto Gwydir Hwy up & over the Gibraltar Range. A clear run and I gave it some....for me anyway. I rode this road over 20 years ago and it was as good as I remembered. Got stopped at the top of the range for a small section of roadworks. The old codger on ‘lollipop’ duties asked where I was heading. I told him Brisbane. He said I was going the wrong way. I said “I know”. He asked if I was heading home. I said “yes”. He asked where in Brisbane was home. I said “Canberra”. He shook his head a little, then said “so what’s this thing then - moto gahzee?” I nodded. I left him very confused | |

| Rode to/from work yesterday. Rode again today. I think I am having withdrawal symptoms after the last rally, and it was less than two weeks ago. I just want to ride, and ride, and ride....
Bike is running well. Smiles per Miles is up there!
