Whenever I visit the US I go out of my way to try and research where I can find small towns that aren't populated with snaggle toothed inbreds that retain some of their history, architecture, culture and charm. Unless I or we, (Jude is often with me.) are accompanied by locals we seem to miss out on places like this and end up in strip malls full of gurning shitheads whose mothers were obviously a little too fond of their brothers!
We KNOW these places are out there, everywhere, because from time to time we stumble across them, (Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes!) but unless we have a *Local*, (Daniel Kalal and Bill and Kathi Hagan are handy for this!) on hand we invariable end up sitting next to pencil necks and fatties with BO and bits missing!
Its very dispiriting!
Pete Pete if you find yourself in NewEngland give me a shout. I can give you some pointers. I try to ferret out the real places to make a stop. If I end up eating at some corporate joint while on the road it is a sad defeat.

| Trying to determine why my GRiSO is idling high. Pulled the air filter out, and probed the inner air box. There's a little bit of oil in there. The filter was chock full of grit too. Anyhoo, upon reassembly, muggins here loses his tenuous grip on one of the screws that holds the air box lid on, and it plummets into the depths beside the box. It fell through the gap between the airbox and the frame. It should have dropped onto the swing arm, or onto the floor. Nope! I can't find it. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! . | |

| Bike Week, Daytona Speedway. Nobody parks next to the GRiSO no more: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The only other Guzzi I saw all day was this tasty beast: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I'm pretty sure I talked to the owner last Bike Week - it's a pretty memorable bike. Bike Week is a Sociologists Wet Dream. The plumage and posing and strutting that goes on is incredible. Harley riders have their own pretense of course - all identically-dressed 'Rugged Individualists' all doing the same thing. A few ghetto-ised crotch rockets with stretched swingarms and Power Rangers aboard. Occasional Dainese-clad Ducasti. New to me this year was the 'Weary World Traveller'. I saw several, mostly old bearded white dudes on BMW GS laden with every touring bag and farkle ever made, and strategically placed dirt and foreign decals. They can't all be going around the World, and just happened to be in Daytona ?? | |

Pete T`was a moment of pique, influenced by a good glass of Polands finest and reading an article that reminded me of why I bought Hondas. It`s going nowhere other than it`s appointment to get sorted on the 22nd of this month Chris

| First decent ride of the year, 250 miles with two others both on Aprilia RSV4's, luckily we took the scenic route, so the GRiSO could keep up without too much trouble.
i am always impressed, when thrashed, just how fast the GRiSO will cover ground and keep up with ostensibly fast bikes.
Go GRiSO! | |

| Went to Adelaide riding the GRiSO and Heather on her Honda CB500 X. Stopped overnight in Strathalbyn and went to the Guzzi dealer there. Had a chat with the owner and another guy, and then a guy came up to me and asked me if it was my GRiSO outside, I said yes and he said that he had one and had just joined the forum under the name of Greaso(?). Anyway we continued on to Adelaide via all these wonderful bike roads that |Heather remembered from her misspent youth and then to her brother's place in Elizabeth. Caught up with nearly all of her family and spent the nxt 3 days riding all the good riding roads in Adelaide...the Gorge road, Cudlee Creek road and the Chain of Ponds road. When we left we went via Gumeracha to Birdswood (another great road and then to Naracoorte. Stayed with a friend of Heather's there and came home on Tuesday into a head wind all the way back to Geelong. The bike ran flawlessly and I now have up nearly 76,000km. What can I say, except I want another one. | |
