| Fred,
So sorry to hear of your slip-up, I hope you and the GRiSO heal up quickly. Several of us here in the Seattle area have a tradition of riding to Neah Bay (Northwesternmost town in the continental U.S.) on the Olympic Peninsula on New Year's Day, but this year we thought better of it and all stayed home. Since I'm still nursing a separated shoulder and my GRiSO's in pieces, and since last year's ride was in dicey conditions from beginning to end, I think we all realized a get-off would really spoil the day for all of us. Are we getting wiser? Probably not. If the conditions are right and the bikes are in shape, I'm sure we'll do it again in the future.

Pete (Street) Thanks Pete - I've been pondering the get-off. My mistake was deciding to head up Palomar, instead of sticking to the desert runs. My buddy who was riding home to San Diego the day before, decided not to make the Palomar loop on his way home. It's really a how much risk to tolerate. I should have made the conservative choice. I had lots of good road I could have taken.

| Just fitted some Arrow Ti headers. Wt = right side 665 grams , left side 557 grams for a total of 1.222 kgs. The standard headers weigh approximately 5.2 kgs. Weight saving aside, I like the pretty colour they turn when you move the twist grip from tortoise to hare Another bonus is I believe they won't rust or ever need polishing , Mark ? | Nope. They get that friggin hot, anything that touches 'em frizzles to a vapor. They also make your engine run cooler, so you really need to give it the berries to get it hot. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! . | |

| Well, I think my Berries aren't as big as yours Mark ( Pun intended ) I went for a quick Lap around town, some 80 kph areas and only coloured up the first 4" or so. A trip to Brisbane at the end of the week might help This bike is dangerous, licence wise. It feels so Crisp with the latest map I find it hard to behave myself | |

| I took the GPR race pipe off and put the original pipe on. Took it for a short run (12ks city/8 ks open road), couldn't really feel any great difference except for less noise. Fuel economy may have got better?? was 7.2 l/100 now 6.5 l/100 although it was too short a run to be sure. | |

| Took the GRiSO on a 780 kilometre loop up to Brim in Victoria's north west to photograph the murals that have been painted on the wheat silos there. From there to Nullawil to see my cousin who runs the local garage and then back home. I was carrying my 8x10 camera and a tripod weighing 25kilograms in a backpack that I had on. Side winds on the way up and head winds on the way home and running at around 115-120 kmh and I still got 6.2 litres per hundred kilometres. I'm pretty happy with those figures and with the way the GRiSO performed. I think I should sleep well tonight. | |

Pete (Street) How true! In the meantime, best to all who need healing and bikes to mend. On the bright side -- at least in this hemisphere! -- if one and one's mount must be laid up, this is the right time. Was 5F here at the top of Virginia this a.m. Not quite in the same league as Lemppari's -25C , but cold enough for me. Bill

| Rode the Rosso on her first trip today, Gladstone to Brisbane. Was watching the odometer closely so as to take a photo when it hit 1200 but got caught in traffic , and missed it by that much. ( by 3 lousy Kms ) With Beetles roller map -II in, I synced the throttle bodies this morning, initial at 4500 , found to be a little out, both bleed screws where shut, and after sync still are. It is a whole ship load better than I could ever get my flat tappet engine. It doesn't matter what speed your doing the vibration level is exactly the same. I can only feel vague firing pulses though the grips and pegs. Beetle, YOU ARE THE FIG. | |
