Have to agree with Pete much as I would love the idea of a new bike, 32 big ones is a bit much for a new bike. Bikes especially used to be a reasonably popular and certainly a lot more affordable when I was younger and certainly didn't need a computer to tune etc, and before anyone gets excited about that comment, yes I know we are moving with the times and being an old fart as decreed by my offspring they find it funny as fuck when the old man yells at the laptop. I suppose I am just a dinosaur trying to keep up in this crazy modern world. Just my 2 cents worth........

Checked the valves. Went for a ride. Life is good.
The slide pin is a bit of a pita... Wasted 20 min trying to be nice before using hammer and punch

I did! I even I read the workshop manual
The end opposite to the circlip has a kind of split washer (not sure what this is called?) I think that had just become a bit stuck with surface rust.

i did some good works in these weeks -rear shock rebuild with ohlins spring (thanks to ORAM) -full service of the entire rear link (including shock bolts that are bented) -inner pinion seal replacement and new pinion oil 85w140 -new silent block on the reaction rod -a decent clean in the rear part of the bike -regrease of all pins and junctions -tps and autolearning parameters reset on ecu
yesterday a quick spin to test the bike that seems to run waaaaaay better.
i have also to do -front lamp reinforcement -front brake pads -ecu update -tb balance -find a luggage rack

There was a bloke over on the Italian board who posted up pictures a few weeks ago of some crap he was selling that included a factory tail rack. Dunno if he's sold it. In the 'Garage' section I think.

Next step -> new brake pads, fix front headlight casing, and at least a good wash [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

After placing a new ecu map, new brake pads, and a little setup to rear shock, went out for TWO rides [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Not just today, but over the past week and for the next two weeks, my bride and I are in the Hill Country of Texas. Lovely roads, near devoid of traffic. Yesterday, in the first 45 miles of our ride, we counted 9 oncoming vehicles.
Of course, the GRiSO is a fine tool for the swooping, undulating pavement, with 70 mph speed limits.

Nothing. It's too bloody hot to ride. I don't even like leaving the house.

Mark, it does look like your part of Straya has some quite warm weather coming! 0300 to 0600 might be a bit early but I love a nice warm sunrise ride.

Early morning rides, especially before sunrise/just at sunrise are fraught with danger....kangaroos are everywhere, and the buggers have no motorcycle sense..a bit like cage drivers...

Today I collected the reward for adding the Brembo RCS19 brake master (required new lines as well), bleeding and re-bleeding the system and taking nearly all of the preload off the stock rear shock spring. Those were funny 280 kms with my brother and his girlfriend! Besides the cold (11°C in the higher ranges and loads of gravel on the roads) we had a blast on a KTM 890 Duke R, a KTM 690 Duke R and my good old 1100. My setup-changes resulted in a much more comfy ride without sacrificing ride quality in the fast stuff and the front brake is now 1-finger-only-or-go-over-the-bars with perfect feedback. We swapped bikes once and to my surprise my younger brother, who is a die-hard KTM addict, begins to understand what I like about the fat lady from Italy. It is still not his cup of tea, but he starts to get the idea.

Saturday 350 kilometers around the roads of Basilicata. Zero traffic, Only the sound of the wind and the sound of the v-twin The bike now runs quite fine, i've just to understand how to set the rear shock after full rebuild + spring swap
Rained all day. GRiSO ran like a champ. Me, I need another beer.
Pushing on in the morning.

Went to Daytona for flatrack races met up with the Guzzi Gang racing team all went well till the rider on the 650 hit the north wall and broke collar bone and maybe a rib . There were about 8 guzzis that rode in from as far away as Wisconsin . Hope to meet up with you on saturday for the breakfast at the Warbird Museum in Titusville[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Tim, Saturday is a go.
Hope the rider recovers quickly.
I met one of the Casey brothers at Lima a few years ago. He showed me a bunch of pictures of the 650 on the track there in Florida. Sorry I missed it this time. Maybe next year.
