- Hi there,
I felt a little cramped when I sat on a GRiSO. I sat on a Ducatti GT1000 and it fit a glove. I only have the measurement for the Ducatti and its 18 inches. I want to make the GRiSO work but how far off am I?
Thinking that lowering the pegs may be the way to go.
Also, can anyone comment on the differences in ride between the two bikes?
thanks and appreciated
Sure. I had a 2007 Ducati GT1000 before my current 2008 GRiSO 1100.
Bought it when no-one wanted one, sold it when every Hipster did - and made money on it !
I'm 6ft4in 34in Inside seam and, like you, the GT1000 fitted better. I've added Knight Design 1 1/2" lower pegs, a Corbin seat (probably about 1in higher) and flatter bars.
The GRiSO fits perfectly now, but the riding experience was
always better...
I found the Ducati a little 'nervous', and it always seemed fragile, although nothing major broke.
I find the GRiSO far easier and more pleasant to ride.
I wanted (and got ) the 'Style of a Ducati, and the rideability of a BMW'. Thank God not the other-way-around !
The GRiSO has downmarket ('cheap') suspension, but the GT1000 is even worse ! The non-adjustable Marchozzi forks are really really lame.
Ditto the stock heavy steel wire wheels.
If you get one, I'd advise either the upscale version (the Paul Smart or the Sports Classic) that have Alloy wires and better suspension.
Or find one of the many bikes that people have thrown Aftermarket money at.
(I put ST2 alloy wheels on mine, which was a transformational change).
Good luck - get whatever speaks to you.
