Wow, Bill, I don't think I have ever seen a tidier garage and a shinier GRiSO. How do you do that?
I actually detailed the GRiSO AFTER that pic. Yes, I'm serious. As is usually the case -- with the exception of the benefits of a close cleaning revealing loose fasteners, etc. -- it was a waste of time. The GRiSO is destined to get much messier soon, as, on Friday, I am riding it with two other Guzzisti to the West Virginia rally at Pipestem. The weather reports are daunting, at least for launch day, and make me relate to what you PNW types endure much of the year, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]OBTW, Kathi is, "as we speak," on a plane out to Seattle for two weeks with one set of our grands, so I can play a bit unsupervised. FWIW, if you want to see how my shop come about, go to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] G Better get a coffee (or a beer first); even more pix and captions than I usually foist upon my victims. | Bill, My helmet is a Shark Vision R series 2 - from recollection the pattern is an Escapade, quite comfortable for my head and reasonably quiet with an internal flip down tinted visor. I like shark helmets and have a couple, my last vision R saved my head from being beaten up when I had my big crash in 2014. Very coincidental this picture, not posed and was taken by a random photographer. There are a few who frequent this road reasonably regularly and some post pictures on the net for sale as part of their business. Only caught this guy out of the corner of my eye as I was busy looking where I was going. My wife was on Facebook Sunday night and had a look at the NSW Guzzi club Facebook site and saw the picture. A number of fellow club members were asking who it was and were concerned the tyres were under inflated, I have no idea who posted it but being the wanker I am I had to copy and save it so I can admire how cool I look.

| Pulled the fairing off and got my jollies riding nekkid. Then cursed it when the throttle kept sticking. Pulled the Kaoko throttle lock off. Instant free throttle. Changed the clock for daylight saving, then had a panic attack when the dash displayed the ECU disconnected icon. Key off-on fixed that. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! . | |

That depends upon who you listen to and what you read I guess. Ultimately it's probably user preference. Some folks say 0.004/0.006 others say 0.006/0.008. As far as I know the Moto Guzzi world spec. for the 8V roller engine is 0.006/0.008, but I don't think 0.004/0.006 would cause any real problem. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]2012 MOTO GUZZI GRiSO 1200SE2013 MOTO GUZZI STELVIO 1200NTX - Orange Blossom Special

| The gaps in the rollers open up appreciably as they heat up. All my maps were built (and all roller gaps set at MotoModa) are 0.1mm & 0.15mm (4 & 6 thou).
I have posted a disclaimer on my website. If you don't want to set your roller gaps to 4 & 6 thou, don't buy a roller map. I will not provide support for any bike not running these gaps.

| The 8V is remarkably sensitive to valve clearance changes. As Mark sez all his maps are built for 6 & 8 and will run optimally with those clearances. Steve is I believe running one of the Mistral maps on his bike with another pipe. That might explain why it works with the bigger clearances.

| Yup, despite their differences in appearance all the 1200's use essentially the same engine. Once they went to rollers they are all identical in every way. Even the Cali 14's use the same cams. There is only one cam profile.
Differences in performance and behaviour are all down to gearing and mapping. Apart from that all the 1200's are interchangeable.

Not sure you want to get into this here but what would the consequences be if your maps are running on a 6 and 8 setting?........... Not sure what my Norge was set at last time is all.
Thx | |
