- Took the GRiSO for a run through the twisty and hilly roads in my part of Tennessee this morning (a tad nippy at 60 degrees F for this time of the year). Just the kind of riding the GRiSO was designed to tackle. It was a great ride (solo run) and I never get tired of it...even after 50+ years of motorcycling. I did have one moment that tested my reflexes...after exiting a series of "S" curves that had changing elevations, I saw a big buck deer running in the culvert to my right side. As we all know, they will instinctively try to take out motorcyclists...not this time, I immediately straightened the GRiSO and let the Brembo's know I needed to QUICKLY slow to let the deer cross the road in front of me. It was close (I could almost see the deer's name tag...Rudy?), but no harm done. The rest of ride was without incident, but still enjoyable. I'm ready to do it again...without Rudy!
Sounds like a crisp little run with just a touch of adrenaline to "get yer mind right" -

| We had a crisp 4 deg centigrade morning and my bike felt really good, no hesitation or studder. I was able to ride comfortably burbling down the streets at steady 2250 revs, accelerating without any hesitation with a light twist of the throttle. Not so in the afternoon with 18 deg. The bike did not run smooth under 4000 on even throttle. So the question is, is the GRiSO running rich? I got mail from Britain, the connecting cables have arrived, so it's time to try to connect the PC with the ECU and start checking, testing and adjusting. I'm seriously handicapped IT-wise, so may the force be with me! Geronimo! | |

| A roaring success (although the engine was off)! First contact with the soul of my GRiSO succeeded and the TPS is readjusted. Tomorrow I will venture forth and read the map. | |

| Before you start buggering about with a new map are you SURE that the tune is correct? Valve lash and TB balance have to be spot on or you'll be on a hiding to nothing. Is your bike a flat or roller tappet machine?

| I adjusted both the valves and the TB balance when I got home with the bike. Couldn't do the TPS before today, it was 4.5, so off a bit. The RH valve lash was spot on, the LH intakes were 0.22 and exhausts 0,3 and 0,3++ mm. The 20 000 service had been done 2500 km's ago by a certified Guzzi garage. I know that guy is a meticulous mechanic and would not let a bike with too much valve play out of his hands, so as mine is a 2010 flat tappet engine, I might be in for tappet failure. The LH head is already noisier, less than 1000 km's after my adjusting the lash. Will check it again next weekend as well as the balance while I take off the Stucchi crash bars that are making all service procedures well nigh impossible to do! | |

And good old GRiSO did so well!!!
Hey, Bioman, thanks for the pictures! I'm glad someone from the Ghetto was able to join in. I ended up having to attend a practicum that day, so for me it was a no go. Bummer because I really want to do that ride. The organizer did mention that he wanted to make it a yearly event, so I'm hoping we can get a few Grisos together to get out there. Riders from Vancouver and Calgary have about the same distance to cover to get to Castlegar, so we may get a couple of Albertans too. You would have me on that ride.. , next time.... I would plan for it, love the Kootenay area especially near New Denver best roads in BC I would say Cheers Keener

| Pulled the swing arm off to check the bearings and drive shaft. Bearings only just greasy, minimum Splines a ok The bearings and seals cleaned up good and with some new grease all went back together good. The bearing end play was finger tight and I tightened it up a bit tighter this time. I have been putting off doing this job but it ended up an easy job. Will take him out tomorrow with his new grease onboard and see how he sounds. Feel a lot better now this is done. Drilled holes thru the wheel bolts and wired them up also, no loose wheel into the future now. Caoi | |

| Put 'Shorty' levers on my clutch and brake. Went for logging run (Mistral NodBk map). Upon return to House Du Beetle, immediately put long original levers back on. | Got my leads from Lonelec, so downloaded GuzziDiag and friends onto the Mactop, and plugged it all together. all too easy! reset TPS even tho it was 4.6, coz I could... Now to re-read BeetleTech to find out whats next! Trev, you shoulda said you were tackling the swingarm.... I did that a little while ago, I would've swung by with some 'cold tools' and helped... | |

| This evening I read the map with IAW15xReader and tried to open the saved file with TunePro with meager results. Dunno what's wrong, but the window stayed empty. It wasn't always easy with tuning carbs and points ignition, but this is ridiculous! It is raining cats and dogs, so there really isn't anything else to do. | |

| IAW15 is the wrong programme. You need the 5AM reader for GRiSO.

| It turned out that my bike has the crappy factory map update. Ignition advance under 4000 is totally wrong, fuel mapping odd compared to 068. We are having a bout of low pressures, testing the bike with a stock 068 map will take some time. | |

| Today's chore was to flash Beetle's tailormade map using Beetle's precise How To. Done it with success. Did the TPS and autolearn reset and started the beast. Very soft and even tickover. Nice! It still is raining cats n' dogs so I have to wait for a test ride until morning. Can't wait!!! | |

| well, winter is over, so time for a good spring clean... popped the tank, tweaked the tappets, checked this n that, tightened a few bits, wiped around, the usual, you know; (Don't read on if you're squeamish.) and this came out of the breather box... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]then had a break for lunch, off to find some tuna! | |

| Just came back from a testride, the new Beetlemap worked like a charm! Now it's perfectly feasible to burble along doing 2500 when riding through small rural villages and then just a twist of the wrist and the speed is 125 kmh! Feels a tad lean but Thats easily tested by tweaking the CO.
All in all, thank you, Mark!! Now the bike is a keeper!

| Went for a ride on the Great Ocean Road this morning from Mt Moria through to Lorne and then back through Deans Marsh to Mt Moriac. Quite a few bikes at the bike friendly cafe in Lorne, including 2 other Guzziis. Had the back road to Deans Marsh all to myself, so I flogged it. Such a great bike to ride on these curves. Gave the bike its first wash this year too. | |

| Ha ha, Yes, the 'quick release'.... I did the usual, pointed the bike towards Mandello, anointed extra virgin olive oil on my forehead, and recited all the warning labels thrice... Had to play nice as the upgrade parts haven't arrived yet... so the the plumbing was left unadulterated. For the time being | |

| Well, I hooked in to the Queensland wreck and stripped it down. It's a real pisser it's a stat write off as the frame hasn't got a scratch on it! Bodywork is untouched, it has a small mouse on the oil cooler cover and that's it.
The TB's have never been touched. I'd be quite surprised if it ever had its first service it's that low mileage.
Could one of you Seattle boys nip into Moto International for me and see if they have a late type RH rocker cover in stock over here the robbers want $350 for one, they're on back order in the US but MI might have one on the shelf. I'll check MG Cycles online. AF1 are nil stock. I'll try the Havens too.

| Hi Pete and all Surly there must be a way around this 'statutory writeoff' situation !!!!! With a bike what appears to have minimal damage and can be repaired to a safe and serviceable condition it's downright ridiculous to not let this bike feel the wind again. What's the answer ? Caoi | |
