| This problem has now been addressed by the use of Valpolini metal gaskets. No more leaks.

| new metal gaskets arrived today , they look much better that the paper types ... thin metal centre covered with gasket material both sides ...in theory should work well and probably easy off and on as well ..

These may only last the one use - UNLESS you can get everything squeaky clean before reassembly - I purchased a set and they always leaked after the first opening - couldn't get everything clean and dry properly - maybe I am too lazy - green 'uns work for me.

| Super cheap sell a roll sheet of cork and a rubber mix substance, for making gaskets out of, i've used it on my cars tappet covers over the years with great success, and it comes in two sizes of 1 ml and 2 ml thick iv'e also used it on my triumph trident which have the noisiest tappets iv'e ever heard and the cork seams to muffle the tappet noise a bit, so on a moto guzzi GRiSO we may not hear them at all with the cork. worth a try, HTH.

| I also have gasket material and made a set based on the OEM ones...I did post pictures about it somewhere. But the Valpolini technology is the way to go when it comes to re-use. That's what I have on my stroker V8 Cougar and I removed the valve covers about 5 times if I recall. No leaks. Same technology is used on the 1 piece oil pan casket on that car. No leaks there as well. Cheap stuff is well.............cheap | |

| Bumping.
Tried stock and green, both seem to last just short of the scheduled time for an oil change but is annoying because it always seems to happen on a long ride shaking my confidence and making a mess.
Im done with it. I use Permatex black on my ducati track bike clutch cover and its got an inch of oil against it all of the time without issue, so just did that. Letting it cure and then will report back long term results.
My guess is its going to work and the only issue is its going to take a mallet to get the covers off (which is the case on the Ducati clutch cover).

| I tried them and they leaked immediately. I used a gasket scraper and cleaned with alcohol. Got drips after one ride.
Hopefully permatex is game over, works all over my Ducati.

| There must be some damage to the mating surface for the Valpolini ones to leak. These are the coated steel ones you are talking about? | |
