Subject: GRiSO 1100 - Valve cover gasket Mon Nov 20, 2023 9:52 am
Hi everyone,
I bringing back this subject. I had a thread years ago, but couldn't find it. It's about the valve cover gaskets for the 1100. As I believe you all know, the original ones blow-up now and then without a warning, leaving you with soaked trousers and boots...If it happens during a long journey it's a pain... Since long years ago I started using silicon gaskets from REAL GASKETS. It was a great improvement. They don't blow and can be reused multiple times. There's a downside, however: 1- I could only find them in the USA, so I pay more for the freight than for the gaskets 2- Tighten them is a dilema...A little too tight and they crack when the engine heats up and the metal parts expand, a little too loose and the bolts tend to unscrew along time.
So, I would like to know from you (specially for the ones living in Europe) if someone has found a good alternative for the original gaskets.
Thanks a lot

I think the metal gaskets made by Valpolini are perfect for our GRiSO. If you live in Europe you can buy them straight from Valpolini (here: link to Valpolini site).

Hello Matias, I had the same problem a few times, especially on the left side valve cover and I solved it myself with thicker gasket paper and a good gasket paste. The gaskets that I made have more than 8 years, have been removed for valve maintenance a few times and are still sealing fine, no need for expensive stuff.

Hi cse! I will give Valpolini's a go... They are not that expensive (7€ each, incl. IVA), i just don't know yet how much the post costs will be... I think I will take the opportunity to get some other small bits from them (like the rubber bushings for the oil cooler) and dilute the post costs a little bit...

I use the green ones from the earlier 1100s, these I have used 7 or more times no issue. The originals (also fitted to the 2v Sport, Breva, Norge Engine) are so this you can almost see through them.
