As I've said before the best way to separate the box from the arm is by use of a bottle jack between the ABS sensor mount and the shock linkage mount on the swingarm. Once the box begins to separate from the arm a thin scraper of some sort can be used to gently separate the horrible gloop that was used on post 2008/9 models to prevent staining of the paint around the joint by oil mist.

I will separate the box, I did the first time when getting that checked out. No easy task None of it is light. Given what I was doing this time I took it off as one piece.

Bored out of my nut, so I put plug in him charger and feeds the 'lectrons into Mr. Lithium. Looked like he needed them, 'cos he ate a bunch.
Then I moved the bracket holding oil "in" gauge so that it was the same angle as the oil "out" gauge. Hopefully, it's easier to read. Yeah, I gots two oil temperature gauges.

took a ride Sunday on an unusually warm day (so did everyone else). somehow, I got bunched up in a random pack of Harleys that were barely going the speed limit on an open country road. came up on a straight away, downshifted and passed all in one shot at 103mph. many smiles came from that

Dug GRiSO out of her 5 month slumber. Original battery is still good, tires were 35 rear 33 front, put to 38,36. Fired right up and ran like a champ. Stopped by a roadhouse for a sandwich, group of harley riders really liked GRiSO. Asked if it was fast, said no, about like a harley. 70F today. Having a day where we actually had nothing on as the bench is full of Gary's Tenni while we sort it's suspension out and give it a pre-trip service I decided to go out for a gentle couple of hundred km around one of my local loops.
All very enjoyable and I met up with Bart on his, needless to say immaculate, V11 Greenie and Darrel on his well presented Quota, (But it's still a fucking Quota! At least he got it cheap!) at Gunning where they were having lunch on the way to the Ragged Fringe.
No pics sadly as I forgot. 24*C and not windy. A nice ride!

I've not seen a Quota in the flesh and from the look of photos I've seen of them, I don't particularly want to!

The quota was the guzzi I saw in a store. And thought, damn, that's cool. Would have been quite happy to have ridden out on it if the price had been Right.

Yeah totally. Even the ugliest bike had its fans. Would be quite happy with the v85tt for some light adventure fun.

It was the beginning of some goodness for the mighty GRiSO, picked the drive shaft up from the driveshaft specialist, with a new UJ fitted, he said it looked like it had been pulled apart in the past. Weird, since I have owned it since new, and never had it apart. And its a weird size, he found one to fit, and capped the grease nipple, as it would not fit together with on. Just waiting on some seals and bits. Couriers and such are on the go slow, due to illness and the dreaded covid. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Well the written off shitter passed its inspection today so as of tomorrow it'll be registered in Queensland!
Then I'll just have to arrange to go and pick it up. Hopefully before the weather gets too cold down here.
All up a rough guesstimate would say that it's probably cost me about $8,000 to save it from scrap. Money well spent I'd say as you won't find a rollerised 8V for under about $13K at the moment. The only one on Bikesales is an unrollerised 2008 and the asking price is something like $18K which is just stupid!
Now since Peter has decided not to use it I reckon I'll ditch the huge screen and fit the Givi A660 or whatever it's called. He's also got Mark's old Mistral Hi-Pipe which would be preferable to the factory pipe or that Mistral Lo-Pipe which is my alternative so I reckon if I fling them on and transfer my bag racks over it'll be pretty close to ideal as a second, more touring orientated, GRiSO. It also means I can get the racks off the yellow beast which screw up its lines a bit.

Replacing the Michelin PR 4,s with Dunlop Roadsmart 3,s. Will see how they fare hopefully better than the Michelins which i was not a fan of......each to his own etc.

After sitting, covered in the back of the garage since December of last year, I got her out .... Fired it up and took a little 20 mile toot around the neighborhood. All I've been riding for the last three months has had skis and a track so it felt REALLY Good to get back on 2 wheels again! Tires didn't loose even a pound of pressure over the winter. Very surprised about that .... ran just as sweet as always. I think I'm pushing 20 thousand miles on the 2017 ... but that is sharing miles with 2 other bikes.

i did like PR's on my 600 bandit, but they are just too slippery for that torque. I have now PP on the Breva and Duke.
