| Go hard Ron!
I didn't do nuffin wif me Guzzi today, but, 5 years ago I bought Lonelec cables. Last week a young 'puta geek gimme a laptop he had cleaned and loaded with Windows 7. I proceeded to follow Beetle's tutorial and download the "free" stuff. Did it twice for all three but it had some red box with "Donate" in it. So I stopped.
The 'puta geek is now a number nerd (accountant) and renovating his sale for sale, so I let him be. I was a bank johnny in the olden days, remember when ya mum had a passbook, and we had ledger cards. So I'm not totally stupid, I can count money.
Anyhow, anuva young mate just dropped by, he's only 50. Turns out I had successfully downloaded evryfing, twice. So now I have all that bit sorted I went on a search.
Found the cables ................. this bit goes wif dat ............. and dat bit plugs in d're ..............
I've had enuff excitement for one day, but watch this space.
Caveat: Bellagio is a little different than a GRiSO regards TPS, it's set manually by hand and a screwdriver. Principle is still the same, just gonna read the tutorial anuva 20 times. |

| On GRiSO non-specific sites (and the PDF version), I added this:
"Do not reset your TPS wth GuzziDiag if you have a Bellagio or 15RC California. They must be set manually with a voltmeter. Read the voltmeter, do not use the volts measurement on GuzziDiag."
You can, of course, eyeball the TPS reading in GuzziDiag while setting your Bellagio TPS manually, should you so desire.

How's the turn in now Ron?
Do you wanna try my plastic wheel. The rim is 3.75", works great with a 125/65 slick for edge grip. |

| Turns in great, but the trade off is in the way it behaves when braking hard. This one however will go around a corner much faster. R3 Yamaha. | Today I might start on fixing the miss that is plaguing my old girl. Been getting worse over the last few weeks, but I got crook last week and now am starting to feel "benevolent" towards the task. Either a crook plug or a loose connection I would imagine, but it's a tank off, and pull the airbox out exercise. | |

I almost feel your pain, Tony, especially as we both know that tank-off, airbox-out is the "easy" part. Then comes the real fun of reinstalling those. Just took off my Norge's tank, etc., to R&R alternator. Yee ha. | Cheers Bill - at least I don't have all that tupperware!
As it turns out, taking the airbox out was not necessary. Tank off - both outputs of both coils were loose, as a goose. Expanded the brass inserts so there is maximum contact and tensions for all four plug leads. Now tight as.
While I was in there and had the tank off, I thought I would have a look at the tank breathers. Glad I did. The tank breather itself had some blockage that was in the hose (the R/H side sitting on the bike) so blew it out with some extra strengthened wind.
The L/H side, which is the filler spout drain for water, was totally blocked. There's a lot to be said about taking the tank off when it's almost empty, it also allows you to get in and under easily, without 20 + kilos trying to upset my equilibrium (reminds me of a quote: "I've lost my car keys, my equilibrium, and my pride").
Pulled the drain hose from the spigot, and blew it out - all good. The brass spigot, not so good. Totally blocked, in fact. Search around for my PCB drills (took a while, hadn't used them for a bit) and pin chuck. Slowly steadily, I go a pile of corrosion gunk out of the hole, and increased the size of the drills, till I could get a 1.5 mm drill through. Followed it up with a hefty dose of WD40, followed by said extra wind. All clean now. I had not been here since the bike was new - so 12 years of corrosion build up.
WD40 on the locking mechanism, just because I could.
This probably explains the fuel smell, when just pushing the bike around - pressure in the tank and seeping out through the fuel cap assembly. Hopefully this one is now sorted after several years.
Reassembled all and sundry, initiated the ignition process and a steady healthy idle ensued. This was unlike earlier last week when it was idling on sometime 1 cylinder and nearly stalling - revved OK, but idle and low throttle cruising was totally hit and miss, with plentiful erratic firing. Seems all good now.
Might have to ride tomorrow or the next day, depending on the storm forecast.
Mightily proud of what I managed to achieved today. Winner!
Bill and Pat, check yours, it's probably time.
Of note - the last few services, I have found very thin plastic sheeting in the air filter, not enough to cause a problem, but curious none-the-less. While I was butchering working on the tank, I found the culprit. It's the foam liner under the tank cavity, that has a genuine imitation vinyl coating on it. After 12 years the foam is disintegrating and the coating is flaking off. All of it came out will little encouragement. It's time was up, I reckon. Does anyone see any issue with this being not there?
Oh and Bill, our riding season is all year round. Just saying! When are you coming over to enjoy it? | |

| Just adjusted the valves. It’s only been 5,500 miles but that was when the roller kit went in, plus I have the time now. They were a bit loose but not too bad. I love how easy it is to do on this bike! It’s kind of fun actually. | |

| Tony, that insulation sheet on Big Red gave up the ghost a long time ago.... I replaced it with some fancy silver sided adhesive heat shield from the local hot rod shop. Have been passing wind through my spigots habitually. | |

| Well it got above 50F today, about 12C, so off I went. Took a tear around the lake, not too crazy, lots of sandy spots on the roads. GRiSO ran perfectly and trying to prevent any mayo from accumulating, beat on it mercilessly. About 5" of ice on the lake. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| I went for a short ride today on 2 of my favourite roads near me. The one with the truck connects Inverleigh with Shelford and in the 70s and 80s used to be 100kmh. Now it's down to 80 but I wasn't having any of that. The other one Is Merrawarp road and it's down to 80 as well. The bend I was parked on has a little hump right on the apex of the corner and it's fun to hit that at 100 plus when you're leaned right over. | Went for a ride with 2 mates this morning departing at 5am. New Years day is the best day of the year for a bike ride down under. The whole country is having a big sleep in and most of the fun police have just finished a night shift.
Went up to Queen Mary Falls south west of Boonah, almost to Killarney. What a country of contrasts, record heatwaves, drought and bush fires have been making all the headlines. Well we saw evidence of the latter with the chard remains of typical Aussie bush, until half way up the mountain the fire had stopped when it met the rain forest. As we came out of the forest on the plateau, the world turned green. Lush rich green grass over the rolling hills, filled with cattle as fat as mud. An Aussie oasis, I know it is only a small portion of this wide brown land, but we aint all dead yet.
I wanted to stop for photos, but the boys were pressing on. I was already in trouble for bringing my Japanese bladder.
Home by noon, 350km, dash reading 4.5L/100km (must be a Veglia) although I was traveling with DRZ400's, tyres are toast.
When you think you've one more ride left in those hoops, trust me Noop! The last 50k of twisties was less than confidence inspiring.

| Fuel economy turns out to be a total wank, just calculated rubber economy. $500 per set of tyres with around 5,000k on the shagged rear. Equals $10/k for tyres. |
