| Hi got caught in a bad storm a week ago. now my clocks are flashing on and off randomly. it looks like water may of got inside. tried drying them in a warm place for a few days but still the same. looks like a costly repair or even costlier new clocks. craig | |

| Try removing the speedo sensor or speedo sensors liras if it's an ABS model and checking them for cracks, especially where the cable joins the sensor. Dry them out thoroughly and seal that join with silicone and re-fit. It may well cure the problem. If you can get it to function, even temporarily, check the error codes in the dashboard.

| thanks for reply Pete , no error codes showing when i checked earlier this week. now they wont function to get error codes. wondering if a set of 1200 sport clocks would work on the breva 1100. they do look identical but no pictures of the rear plugs as yet. wondering if i will have immobiliser issues. would trying to start the bike with no clocks on work or cause any damage ? regards craig | |

| Won't start without the CAN bus active. However, just because the display is dead, doesn't mean there isn't some life in the instruments. Won't know until you try.
It's just a guess, but Sport instruments might well work. You'll need two keys to reset the user code.

| Long shot, but try disconnecting the battery, then leave the key switch in the 'on' position overnight to completely discharge the dash backup capacitors.

| Not wishing to be a spoiler, and I haven't checked part numbers, but from memory the pin-out is different between Sport and Breva dashboards. | |

| I'm going from memory here as I'm on holiday in Queensland at the moment but I remember a few years back I had a Breva 850 that had clock issues. I had a Sport Dashboard and when plugged in it worked but threw up a service warning and the indicators didn't work.
I may be mis-remembering and it might of been a Norge dash but I don't think so.
Tread carefully is all I'm saying.

| if You have the ignition switch as well you should be able to.
The antenna surrounding the switch should pick up the signal from the key chip allowing the dash to power up the bike. The dash will then be operative and you can go into the 'code recovery' function and reset the code.
If you don't have the ignition switch you might be able to jury rig something but it would take a lot of pissfarting about.
If you cant get the key recognised the dash won't allow you to progress to the 'code recovery' menu and you will simply be asked for the user code again which you don't have.
Have you tried my suggestion of drying/repairing the sensor/s?

| maybe put the whole dash unit into a ziplock bag with a cup of rice for a few days. that has saved a few phones over the years... | |

| If your bike has no ABS there is a single pick up on the front fork, RHS I think triggered by the disc mounting bolts I believe. If it's an ABS model there will be tone wheels on each wheel hub and the trigger will be in the same place on the fork leg and the second one is on the underside of the bevelbox.

| Pinouts on Breva 1100 and 1200 Sport dash (2V) are identical. Information supplied by Guzzi, so take that with a grain of salt.

I had a quick look on Friday and according to the guzzi wiring diagrams all the dash pin outs on the 2v CARCs are the same but... it was my breva 850 that Pete tried the sport dash on and it definitely didn't work, my dash is the same as the 2v Norge. There has been some discussion on Wildguzzi recently and people there said they had used Breva 1100 dashes on Sports successfully (or maybe it was the other way round) Mind you this advice is also worth the paper it is written on Steve | |

| I compared pinouts on all four (Breva 850, 1100, Sport & Norge), and they are all identical (as per Guzzi).
That doesn't mean dash software is compatible, however. Same caveats apply.

| I have personally fitted 1200 Sports dash to a 1100 Breva motorcycle without any issues. I have also swapped them for a Norge one. The owner's manual says that it is possible to change the user code. From the owner's manual .... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| It is interesting that you are prompted to insert 2 STORED keys. But since the keys are stored in the dash that is no longer present, how does it know these are the correct ones? | |
