| I am going to use the guzzitech shorty muffler (that is still up for sale in the parts for sale section) on the right side of my GRiSO but with the OEM headers and union pipe. I hope to reduce some noise and but more importantly slow exhaust flow using db killers to improve fueling. I thought to add the db killer(s) in in the pipes in front of the shorty muffler. Will any of this work to either reduce noise or improve fueling? If I am still likely to need a map from you, Beetle, can you do something for this combo? With or without DB killer(s). Can you recommend a DB killer of choice to use for this oval muffler? It is an ARROW brand shorty I think. TIA Harry | |

| The 1100's being essentially an ancient Hemi head design don't need to worry so much about slowing down the exhaust gas. If anything the opposite if you are chasing peak power, but a short pipe will tend to boost bottom end and midrange rather than peak power output.
Having said that I strongly advise anyone who rides their bike further than the corner shop consider their comfort and hearing, even if they don't care about upsetting other people. Riding noisy bikes really is TIRING!

| It looks a bit like an Arrow Street Thunder muffler, but I think it's shorter? Regardless, I would be looking for a dB killer for it. Can one be fitted at the business end?
As Pete says, the 2V big blocks are relatively forgiving of open exhausts, unlike it 8V cousin. I'm sure I have a map that will work.

| Hey Pete, Beetle. Thank you for your response. Beetle, I will ask you for a map tho' I am not sure if this is a arrow can or not. I don't know if that makes a difference to what you need to know in creating the map. I am having trouble finding a db killer for the can itself as the exhaust side of the can has an oval port and a db killer for that is making itself invisible on the net to me. Will a db killer/baffle at the front end of the can or the exhaust header reduce noise? Will a baffle anywhere in the exhaust affect your choice of mapping variables? Thanks for your patience. I am a luddite, good with carbs, but just getting to speed with fuel injection and mapping. Harry | |

| A baffle before the muffler will affect fuelling, but won't it make less anti-social. If you're not fazed by the noise, we can try a map that should work. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! . | |

| Pete I've emailed Todd and asked if he can supply a db killer. He said that the arrow factory no longer has a US office so he could not help with a part.He did ask me to send pics and measurements of the muffler as he offered to make a db killer for me. He suggested that shipping the muffler to him might work best. I thought that to be cost prohibitive. I've asked for a part number. Beetle Again thanks for your offer. I want to sort the noise level first if possible. I like the look and weight of this muffler but in the city, it needs to be quieter for my neighbours. Do I need a laptop/tablet to both receive and install the map you send? Can I transfer the map from my desktop to a laptop? Do you send and I receive by email account or do I need a "dropbox" account? I should read your write up again to get up to speed. My dealer, Corsa Meccanica has offered to receive your map and install for me but not until the spring when snow is gone. I have the necessary cables so so my only concerns are the above. Harry
