They were not copies. The Russians bought the design off Germany in the 1930s.

I've had five, and blown up two. Brilliant fun.

I heard the story. I am not sure if it is true or false. Stalin wanted to buy BMW motorcycles from Germany but Hitler denied this demand. Then, Russian paid to Norvegians to buy 20 BMW motorcycles and get them to Russia to the factory located near Ural mountains. Russians take to pieces this motorcycles and copied the parts one to one. I have no idea about whose technology was two wheel tracking.

By the way, this is first time Ural imported to Turkey. Distributor announced the price for the 2 wheel track Ural Tundra with all of the accessories is €20,000 (one of the accessory was really fun. There was a nice looking aluminum box with the red cross on. I found out that it is first aid kit. I opened the box. There were 1 rapped bondage, 1 scissor, 5 pieces of band-aid and... 1 can of salted sardine, 1 pack of cinnamon chewing gum and one 25cc bottle with the written tag "First aid Vodka"

What a great story Onur. Here's my version: It's a 2002 Moto Guzzi California 1100 with a sidecar made locally by DMC Sidecars modeled from the Ural sidecar. BTW, we prefer Irish Whiskey to Wodka for first aid purposes, but it's a minor cultural distinction - any alcohol will do in a pinch.

Well; I will add a photo from the past... from the year 1951. He is my father with 750 cc Harley Davidson (1948). He built sidecar completely by himself. We as a family (I was 6 years old) travelled in Turkey which we had no asphalt roads that time.

And this is taken on 1937 in Gaziantep (south east of Turkey). My father and my mother. My father was working for construction company there.  They were just merried.

Beautiful pictures, Onur!!  Thanks for posting! cheers

(BTW EUR 20,000 for the Ural seems a LOT of money to me, especially since they seem to be selling for less than EUR 10,000 in the rest of Europe...)

€20,000 is lots of money here too. But, importer pays 10% customs tax because it is not made in EU. Let say the import FOB price is €6000, 10% tax 600 became 6600. Now buyer pays 38% consumers tax. Then it becomes €9,108 then VAT from this total 18% sums up to €10,747 rest is the profit for importer and dealer Smile That is why 2015 GRiSO costs €19,000 here.
