Now that I've got your attention, ignore the title, and for that matter my forum name. They've got nothing to do with truth.
G'day from Brisibane. My name is Alan. Today is one week and one day since I rode away, in torrential rain and hail for good measure, on the new GRiSO. Right, so everybody has a story attached to their new ride, what ever that may be, but I don't. Anyway, I'll make something up. Not one month ago, during my reluctant trip to work, I spotted a two wheeled contraption that I recognised from my dreams. I didn't know what exactly it was at the time, but after some research, I was disappointed to find out it was a Moto Guzzi. GRiSO to be precise. Now would be a good time to mention that, while I am able to appreciate eerr Italian things, and such, I know better then to touch them. Speaking from experience working as an auto mechanic in my previous life. That's settled then, I'll just keep pretending to like my Triumph Tiger 800 Roadie. After all, I sold an R1 earlier this year thinking the Trumpy is all I need. Anyway, the problem was, i no longer dreamt about it, now I couldn't sleep. Damn things, I'll have to make a trip to the Moto Guzzi dealer. Because it happens to be so far away, about 5 min from my house, I was forced to take a day off from work. Once I finally got there, unfortunately, I instantaneously recognised the beast and 30 seconds later was riding it. Quick road test it was, but enough to make up my mind...utter piece o... THe sawing machine stays, let's move on. But the GRiSO had other plans. Another sleepless night, of coarse still feeling a bit crook and not fit for duty, I had to stay home and rest. So, once again I find my self at the dealership. This time though, GRiSO takes me all the way to MtGlorious, for those that may know where that is, and who knows where else. He simply refused to be taken back till he was certain that I was convinced. So we spent the day together, needless to say it was a great day. See, here, when you take a bike for a roadie, the brain surgeon eerr I mean salesman follows you around the block, contract waiting on his desk to sign. This was different. GRiSO was obviously calling the shots here. There was no salesman, only GRiSO and I. Anyway, after couple of hundred k's I was allowed to return to the dealership. To my surprise, there was no contract nor convincing speeches. Nobody wants to sell this bike? Sometime later it finally occurred to me. I've already made a deal with the GRiSO, meaning, i am to return in precisely one week, not crash the Tiger (trade) and in the meantime transfer the shortfall. That was exactly what I did, one week and one day ago, and there it was, waiting and ready to go. So it's true, you dont choose the GRiSO, he chooses you and requires no sale contracts nor salesman. Now, I am still not certain whether it was the Tiger or the GRiSO that was responsible for the damn storm. In any case, i had to stop at a pub for a while and have a pint while I admire the beast. How unfortunate.
The above is based on real events. For privacy reasons, none of the names nor places have been changed.
On a serious note. After owning some 13 bikes, new and second hand, the first one remains my favorite. It was the most exciting, it had character, I've ridden it the most (60 000 km in 2 yrs), i had most problems with it, crashed it the most, fixed it the most, beought me the most joy...you get the idea. It was the Rothmans Honda NSR250 SP. Finally, GRiSO brings the feeling back. I've put just over 800 km and I'm even more certain. I'll even forgive the banging box, leaky valve cover bolts, lean startup and it's two stroke throat clearing character. Like me old NSR. What a great machine.
Will post pictures once the Agostini pipe lands here.

Fueling is easily fixed and it shouldn't leak.

I see straight through your tale of woe. The reality was more like this:
You stalked GRiSO. Loitering outside the dealer for weeks, face pressed up against the glass, yearning. GRiSO taunted you from within, it's siren song preventing you from going home. Later, dirty and hungry, you hear a voice "you are mine now".
GRiSO sends the salesman out with a contract that you sign in your own blood.

The banging box is also easily fixed. Yesterday my local workshop did the job of replacing the CARC torque arm bush with the Stelvio 'silent block', as advised by Wayne (ghezzi) and supplied by Pete Roper - changes now go 'snick, snick' just like they should. There sure are some very helpful and generous people here with lots of good advice, a real GRiSO brotherhood - I'm not 100% sure but don't think we have any riding sisters.
Make yourself at home TS, probably see you on the road sometime. Oh, and who did you buy from?

There's at least one Sister somewhere here in the northeast and she rides a Tenni.

That's probably [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] from Salem, MA. She's the only owner I know of who actually makes the GRiSO look better...

BTW, I am quite impressed you rode so long in the rain. My GRiSO is allergic to water.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I bought the beast from Springwood Suzuki. In my opinion, the best shop around here.
Yes, GRiSO got proper wet the day I picked it up, and last Saturday missus and I did just under 400 km in rain. Admittedly, it wasn't too wet Saturday. No dramas there.
In my original post, I was a bit dramatic. The valve cover gaskets are dry, it's just the rear lower cover bolt seals. The bloody condom is above the plastic. Not to worry. I plan to do tappet adjusment on Monday before it goes in for its first service, then I'll take a closer look. Anyway, imperfections make things more perfect.
Thanks again for all the comments and suggestions.

........ a fast learner too. I would be interested in how you find the Springwood workshop for MG service. Past experience has been that it was not possible to talk to their Ape/MG tech and that all information etc had to be passed through the Service manager who was not necessarily on intimate terms with Piaggio products. A first service, while critical, may not provide much opportunity for a valid assessment, but I would appreciate your opinion all the same.

No worries, I will review their efforts. Is there a more appropriate place for that?

GRiSO Experience? or if applied to the do-it-yourselfer, mechanic-wise, then GRiSOlogy.

Multi dealership that one. Just make sure the fat ginger nut doesn't touch your bike, in his opinion, "Guzzi's are shit and I fucking hate working on them!" He spoke those words directly to myself, not knowing my fetish.
Hang on, with your thread title, you found your next best mate.
