In first gear or neutral at a stop light?

At stoplights, I keep my 2016 GRiSO 1200 in 1st gear with the clutch lever pulled in instead of in neutral. I feel like that is safer. But does this damage the clutch mechanism(s)? For context, my GRiSO is my only means of transportation, and I ride literally every day (except if it’s snowing or flooding)…

Best to knock it into neutral and release the clutch. It’s easier on splines and the clutch thrust bearing but on the 8V models it’s less critical than the earlier engines due to the clutch design.

I try to always put mine in neutral if I can catch it from 2nd while still rolling, but as with all my Guzzi's it is sometimes difficult as heck to get it to drop in..so if its a regular stop light, or just a sign, I'll just hold the clutch in...If  Its construction where I know I'll be sitting there waiting for a while I just turn the motor off then put it in neutral before starting. But, As I said, I do always make an initial effort  to put it in neutral.
