Subject: New Tenni Green GRiSO Owner Tue Oct 01, 2024 6:07 am
Hi all.
I've just bought a lovely lowish mileage (9k) 2011 Tenni GRiSO and was wondering what the first things I should do.
I've already booked it in with an approved dealer for it's roller tappets, but the bike was left standing for close to 8 years, so what other things should I focus on and ask for at the dealer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I tired attaching pic but it wouldn't work

There are a host of threads that cover this I’m sure if you search.
For starters though.
Shock linkages and swingarm bearings need servicing.
Pinion nut of the bevelbox benefits from Loctite.
Sump spacer gasket it is advisable to replace with a better type.
Check all breather and drain hoses and replace any that are shabby and make sure the airbox drains are plugged.
Give it a full service tune and if you don’t know the user code reset it using the ‘Code Recovery’ function to something you won’t forget, (You need two keys to do this.).

Hi Pete! I was hoping you'd reply haha. I did try looking, but there was a ton of info. I'll ask the dealer to look at the points you've mentioned. He was also kind of chill about whether I wanted to change the tappets or not. I understand he was trying to save me money, but he was like "Get them changed when they start going" I'm a little bit nervous though, as I have heard the kits are becoming progressively more difficult to obtain. Are you still able to source them?

By the time they become noisy the damage is well advanced and may of caused further damage to the motor. I’ve tried to explain this a thousand times but it seems to be a simple message that doesn’t go through.
As for kit availability? To the best of my knowledge they are still making them but the clock is probably ticking, especially for the kits for pre-2011 models
For a lot of people it seems that ‘Run it till it breaks and then get something else’ is acceptable practice. I can’t argue with that philosophy in the modern world. I just don’t have to like it.

I agree and with the increasing rarity of the bike, especially in this colour, I want to make sure it lasts a long time.
I spoke to someone at Gutsibits and they mentioned that Roller Kit B is pretty much impossible to source at the moment, but I'm hoping from reading your posts on the model years, that mine might be an A kit.
I'm taking it up to an approved dealer on Thursday, so hopefully can get the bike up to standard. It was last serviced in 2017 at 9k and it has only done a 100 miles since then.
I haven't owned a GRiSO for a long while, but there seems to be a weird noise when releasing the clutch and taking off, so weary about that.

When they were new some 8V (mostly Stelvio) had a groan noise on clutch release. They do have a better clutch in the 1400 but your clutch should be OK, change the fluid.

Thanks Steve. I've let the service centre know and printed off what Pete had written down for them. They were keen on doing the valve timings too. I'll probably look to service the bike myself going forward though, it was simple enough to do on my V7.

Yes, it's a very easy motorcycle to use, especially in the mechanical part. Good luck
