I've discovered a slight blow at the LH exhaust header pipe, so I plan to remove both pipes and replace the header gaskets. First time doing this job. My question is, can I re-use the two gaskets that are down at the collector pipe (2 into 1) or should these also be replaced?
I have some new solid brass nuts and lock washers for the header pipe re-assembly [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
As long as the clamps haven't been over-torqued you can re-use them if they retain their integrity, they usually do.
The trick with the manifold to head gaskets is to not over tighten the nuts and then re-torque them a couple of times after a few heat cycles.
OK, thanks for the information Pete. I don't think the exhaust has ever been disturbed from new, except the original end can being replaced for a Termi. I'm assuming everything else is still as it were from the factory.

I've only just got round to doing this job properly, as re-torquing the header pipe kept it from blowing for the time being.
However, now that I'm doing this, I've found that my replacement brass dome nuts are bottoming out on the stud before applying any pressure to the pipe.
From what I can see, there should be 1x washer(6), 1x Schnorr washer(5) and 1x cap nut(4). But I seem to have 1x Schnorr washer (5), 1x flanged nut(?) and 1x cap nut (4).
Several years ago I ordered new nuts and gaskets from AF1 Racing when taking the headers off. They sent me stainless cap nuts and previously I had standard ones. I thought they might bottom out so I put a couple of stainless washers under the nut and that worked out. Been fine ever since.

I could stack some washers behind the new cap nuts, but I was wondering how many others have noticed this too?

Gutsibuts in UK has Ti studs and just for reasonable coin. I just had them shipped to US in short time. Great company by the way. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Pete designed a sloppage/baffle plate for the V11 series. Gutsicunts copied his idea, right down to the unnecessary hole that Pete has accidentally put in, and marketed them as their own.
I fart in their general direction! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
As I’ve said on other boards over the years if they had just contacted me and said.”Hey, great idea! Can we use the design and make it here?” I would have happily said “Fill yer boots! But add $20 to your price and donate it to Medicine Sans Frontiers.”
But they didn’t. They simply stole my design and copied it even down to the thickness of the material, (Which was a bit of a weird thickness because it was available for cheap from my original supplier and they obviously didn’t know or think about it and it’s purpose. Just copy it.).
When someone asked them about it their only response was “We don’t respond to internet rumours.” Fuck them and the horse they rode in on! Pack of lying softcocks. Thing is though every day I wake up and I’m in the beautiful Bungendore. They wake up in Huddersfield!
