Subject: 2007 1100 GRiSO cranks but won’t start Sat Oct 21, 2023 11:31 am
My son rode my GRiSO yesterday on a 20 minute ride. When he pulled back into the neighborhood the bike died on him (on a decent grade) and it would crank over but wouldn’t start.
Got it back home on flat ground and looked things over. All the fuses are good, you can hear the fuel pump prime once you turn the key on. The bike cranks over fine but doesn’t fire up. I still need to pull the plugs and check for spark.
Is there a tip over sensor on these bikes? Or some other type of sensor to cut the ignition and/or fuel off to these bikes.
Weird to just all of a sudden to lose power and not be able to fire back up.
Anyone else ever have something like this happen to them?

Hose between the fuel pump and the filter has blown off most likely. Early bikes had a hose that wasn't submersible. Replace it with decent, fully submersible hose.

Thanks for that advice, I’ll get the tank off and see what I’ve got going on in there.

Got the tank removed and pulled the fuel pump. The hose was popped off preventing gas getting into it the engine.

Did you replace the hose with a fully submersible one? If not it will do it again or burst.

Hmm... and I replaced the filter and hoses as a preventive measure and it only caused problems for myself, because since then I had to remove the tank twice because the hose fell behind the filter despite . So it's not always worth being overzealous, which I have a clear example of from my own example

Did you use a fully submersible hose? Ordinary FI hose isn't good enough. What clamps did you use?
(Edit. Your bike is an 8V and post dated this problem. It was a variety of bike built between 2003 and 2007/8 MY. With respect you are muddying the water because you're complaining that you tried to fix a problem that wouldn't occur on your bike because of the hose issue. If your hose blew off there would be another issue. Not the one that effected the 'Bad hose' pump assemblies.)

Thank you for the explanation, it was my fault for not reading carefully about the problem and it was only my fault that I caused problems, because now the conduction has broken down.

No worries, I just wanted to make sure other casual readers of the thread didn't assume it was a universal problem. While removing the pump assembly isn't a huge job it seems an inordinate number of people manage to break the fuel spigot whilst removing the tank so if the need can be avoided it's probably for the best.

Thanks again for the general guidance and control of our quick connector, which I was unable to remove for the third time and I had to pull out the entire hose with the injectors. Best regards.failures and struggles here. The pipe under the tank will need to be replaced anyway due to its kinking, I don't know yet whether it will
