Probably not the right place to post this, but here goes. Looking at a 1400 California wondering what sort of issues are there with the motor also availability of spare parts as these bikes only produced for a limited time. I know they are a bigger version of the 1200 8 valve motor and given that carry out the usual maintenance is there any issues I should be aware of. Any information is much appreciated.

The 1400 is a very different motor to the 1200 Alan and there are differences to the gearbox as well. I'll give a bit of a run down on them in a bit. Overall they are a very different motorcycle to the CARC series.

Any time after 9.00AM is fine Alan. Between 4.00PM and 6.00PM I'll probably be at the pub so it might be a bit noisy but I can wander outside to talk.

Unsurprisingly really. The shop he was dealing with seemed to be spectacularly clueless. You don't get a major, catastrophic, failure like his engine had and then just replace the broken bits and push it out the door without looking for the cause! Of course it's going to do it again unless you find out why?
As I said when that was going down I would have loved to get my hands on that motor. I'd of been all over it like a rash.......

His was one of those batwing fairing MGX's or whatever but they're all pretty much the same under the skin.
