Forks are coming back from service today. Oil/seals/new compression shim stack. I noted the setting before removal, but I'm curious what people have settled on on their bikes. In my case I only had 80 miles of light duty before startus interuptus and a weepy seal shut me down, so I didn't develop a baseline.

As previously stated, two rings.
That’s the way my bike was delivered. It seems to work for what I do.

Important to remember the way the rear suspension is set up affects how many rings you may need at the front for optimum balance.....I run a Stelvio shock which pushes the rear up enough that I only need 2 rings at the front....

As Paulbrice said, I have a longer Ohlins shock which has changed the bikes geometry, so I run 1 ring showing

I noticed on mine that I have 3 rings on the upper white part and 2 rings on the black part.
According to the workshop manual the standard settings is 5 on the white and 3 on the black.
Do you have any idea what does that mean on the drive ? Would it be better to revert to the initial settings ?

First you should adjust the sag for your Wright (rings on the white party). The number of rings on the black part depend on your driving style/preferences. If you feel the bike resists to leanning while entrering the corners drop the forks a ring more

Thank you Mathias. I probably need to make some tests because when riding I don’t feel any difficulties leaning the bike except in some roundabout but this might be improve.
I bought GRiSO as a second hand and since then (more than 10 years) I never changed the settings.
This post opened my eyes.

I only tried it after many years of owning the bike too, but I could feel a noticeable difference by dropping the forks.

Note: when I say dropping the forks I mean more rings showing on the black tube.

I mean rings for fork position (below). More rings means more agility, less rings means more stability. This because the position of the forks has an influence on the steering angle. Like others already said, the height of the rear end has also an influence on the steering angle, so 4 rings will have a different impact in different bikes depending on the rear end conditions (Stelvio shock, for example). Of course, if you reduce the spring pre-load (rings from pict below) you will also lower the front end, but you will end up with too much sag and you will reduce the usable suspension travel.
