2012 GRiSO Engine Noise - Anyone know what this is?

I checked out mg cycles and it turns out, I already had an account on there. I ordered a clutch cable for the V7i used to have. Anyway, I signed up to get notified whenever they have the actual part I need back in stock.

Off topic but I wanted to ask here. If I need to get this roller cam kit, I take it it's the type a that I want for my bike?

It's a 2012 isn't it? In that case it will be an 'A' kit bike. The way to be certain is to remove the rocker cover and see if it has the circular gasket around the plug tube between the rocker cover and top of the cambox.

If it is still a flat tappet engine I cannot impress strongly enough how important it is to get it rollerised ASAP.

No, it's unlikely you will have to. Needless to say if you don't have a spare on hand it is more likely to leak afterwards! Laughing

But no, it should be fine. As I sad though, DO NOT pull the plug caps off from above until they have been levered off the plug from below with a screwdriver through the cooling tunnel in the head. Grabbing, tugging and twisting them will almost certainly damage them and although easily and cheaply replaced with NGK alternatives the originals are fine if they aren't abused.

I had to have mine TIG welded and it did the trick. But please do yourself a favour and ensure that you check whether your bike has been rollerised and in the meanwhile ride it as little as possible. If it has not beern rollerised, get it done ASAP.

Its not the cams but the cam-followers that run on them and push the rockers like very short push rods.
Your first picture is the only one that shows these and it looks like they are 'flatties' .
My commiserations Sad

Look at the pictures on the string i linked again and photograph up close to the tank just to be sure.
Then take a breath and follow @Pete Roper's guidance - it will need an 'A' kit to fix it.

DO NOT RIDE IT UNTIL THIS IS DONE. the fine metal particles coming off the followers are grinding paste for all the bits that run forever in a Guzzi

Yep. It's a flattie. As John says the only pic that allows you to see it is the first one.

Check out the pics in the thread he linked and you can clearly see difference in the two tappet types. And yes, it's an 'A' kit engine.

I think Lannis had it done at Moto Richmond [https://www.motorichmond.com], not WMS. Be that as it may, the latter is mammaries up and, sadly, long gone. Sad

I, too, have had only positive -- albeit limited -- service experiences at MR.

I cannot speak personally about anything good, bad, or indifferent about the Arlington dealer -- which is close to Tony, but I have yet to hear a positive comment from the several folks who have. In fairness, most of those were on the sales side of the house.

Tony and I are going to chat on the phone at noon.
