metallic noise in first gear Empty
PostSubject: metallic noise in first gear   metallic noise in first gear Icon_minitime1Mon Mar 28, 2022 11:09 am

Good evening,

it started two days back, and happens occasionally:

Standing at traffic lights, first gear in. loose the clutch and while bike accelerates, one can hear a metallic noise.
a metallic uueeeh

It seems a bit rpm dependent, when i loose the clutch at low rpm, there is nothing.
When i let the clutch slide a bit at increased rpms, the sound is here.
The bikes has 19000km, i do own it since 1000 km.
It it really the clutch already ?
Any other possibilities ?

Thanks !

Pawel

You will have to remove helmet and listen closer to pinpoint where noise is coming from on bike. Whether it originates from inside bell-housing(clutch) or towards the rear of bike on the outside as a rattle(reaction rod) on top of CARC. Front of rod is on back of frame & rear of it is on rear drive. If the rod bushings are loose you should be able to twist it.

thanks for the response !
me and my english. if you mean twist like: take the rod in your hand and twist it, then i can do that.
luckily i have a breva too. they both feel similar.
i will try on friday to identify the location during a test drive

the clutch fluid was not changed for ages. i did not change the clutch fluid on my ktm in 4 years. it was blackish.
the clutch fluid of the GRiSO had something grease-like in the reservoir.
did change the fluid and sound is gone so far.
