So, when I first experienced startus interruptus and got the MPH fix, I bought a new battery from MPH where I got my bike in 2014. The first new battery went in some time in 2015 I believe with the startus fix. They sold me a motorboat mtbx16u. I replaced it again a couple of years ago even though the old one was fine- as a preventive measure. I have another one identical to the other. I’ve read where is “20” is better and maybe even was the original spec. My dash shows 13.7 to 13.8 regularly when running. When I start the bike, I see it go as low as 9. So question is: is there any value to going to a 20? I know it has at least 50 more CCA. It’s been OK but maybe I should get the 20? Thank you.

The 20 is specified for a reason.

Thanks my brothers…. Glad I asked. Somehow I got off track and I didn’t know what was specified.

When I fitted my MPH kit initally noticed no difference, took 2 or 3 turns to start. 24 hours later after the voltage bled thru all the wiring it takes a prod and it starts

I hope that post was in jest. Legend has it, electrons travel through (good) wiring at just about the speed of light.

So I figured out why MPH sold bae the motobatt mtbx16 and not a 20. The 20 is too large (width wise) to fit in the battery box. I should have been more diligent in checking the width. Thought it was right. Does the gang have a suggestion for a 20 that fits?

i bought a Yuasa YTX20CH-BS and it fits ok dimensions 153mm x 87mm x 161mm (but the battery box is 'cozy' ) i fit a strap around the battery top to bottom so that i can pull it out when needed.

The Yuasa is the OE battery and fits. I didn't know the Motobatt 20 was was larger but I've not used one as I have a pathological loathing of Motobatt batteries. I've stuck with Yuassa over the years.

The Motobatt MBTX16U has 250CCM compared the the Yuasa 270CCM, its capacity is fractionally larger at 19.0AH compared to the Yuasa 18.5AH. The Motobatt MBTX20U which doesn't fit our bikes has 310CCM and is 21.00AH. From my early days with clear see thru yuasa batteries, were talking late 90's they always had more power than any other brand at the time. Lots knew f*ckall about them. Am a renewed newcomer to the battery scene as past bikes had harley batteries which were very well made. Heard lots of bad things about Motobatt batteries whereas only good things are said about yuasa, they always were pricey though. My past keeper claimed this current MBTX16U was only a year old, getting on for two at time of purchase. Most of that spent in non use and not maintained either.
This morning first start since late Saturday am greeted with this. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Turn off turn on get this and it starts [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Charging whilst riding, is the greater number whats needed or what is available seeing as others have lower charging specs? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Yuasa is a tad narrower than motobatt and about a mm taller, you not got the screw in secure thing goes top o battery, fits yuasa like was meant to.
You mean you fit a strap to assist getting it out, only dawned on me as posted that I never had any startus interuptus issues, all i had was a battery not holding a decent charge. Least have your fix incase, thing spins up like on steroids Prob remove MPH kit and flog it!
Holding at 12.6 Starting at 10 Charging 14.2

Had a starting problem when i first picked up my GRiSO, owner said it had been flat a few times because he didn't ride it enough. It too was a motobat, long story short, previously owned a mk3 lemans. Guzzi, aircooled = large drain on start up. Mk3 was easy.... could install battery suited for starting mk2 escort between frame rails. GRiSO....always a Yuasa.
Auotelectrical shop didn't believe me about GRiSO until they fitted the Yuasa, his remark "wow, didn't think it would make that much difference"
Yes....yes it does.

Hi fellows,
Please, might anyone recommend a specific AntiGravity battery model that will fit and provide for GRiSO's long term needs? - the variety and spec options sets mentioned here is dizzying for my feeblility (urp) to comprehend.
Thoughts?

This site allows you to choose by dimension and voltage [url=antigravity site][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] they look strong enough but i don't know enough about the different tyes of Lithium battery to know.
As the £100 (ish) Yuasa lead acid seems to last up to 5 yr in a UK climate with a battery tender the £300 lithium would need to last 15 years.......will it?

Thank you for your help, friends!
For replacing the Yuasa OEM battery in GRiSO AntiGravity recommends their ATX-12 for normal conditions with occasional freezes and/or their ATX-12-HD for regular operation in freezing temps, or for un-switched power accessories draw. The regular model is 2.6 lbs w/360 CCA, and the -HD model is 3 lbs w/480 CCA for ~ $35 more.
AG's 'Restart' self-diag feature monitors the battery's charge and puts it to sleep before the power level becomes insufficient to crank/restart the engine.

I had to change battery "on tour" and had to take what was available, which was an 18Ah Magneti Marelli. Have no long term experience with it, but it fits right in and starts the engine as it should. And only costs 100 euros... Can give specs if anyone is interested
