First version of my carc protector

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The process was to take an impression from the carc and use that to create a male mould

Then lay up fibreglass and a couple of layers of carbon

Total thickness 4mm

Not as fancy as the carbon protector that was on the bike when I got it, but no idea where it came from.

Being only 1mm thick in the first place it needed reinforcing.

I'll refine the protectors and when I've made the tappet cover protectors will make them as a set. I don't intend to market them as the postage is way over the cost of making them but intend to make batches of 10 that I'll send to whoever wants to distribute them. If there is any interest.

Where I'm at now with these

The stainless piece is a plumbing block for unused tap holes in stainless sinks.
I used the same piece on the carc protector that came with my GRiSO it gives added protection and looks the part

When the tappet covers arrive I'll get on with them in matching carbon
I made this today as a wear plate concept to go on the composite tappet cover protectors.
I don't know if I'll use them but since there was a scrap boat rub rail in the skip I thought I'd see how it looks.

Wow that’s really something. Now you need a protector for the protector……
