Front Wheel Removal

I'm sure that I'm missing something simple here but I can't get the from wheel off my 2015 GRiSO. After I removed the caliper bolts the brake calipers hit the rim and they won't clear the rotors. What the heck am I missing? Obviously it can be done as I had a local shop put on new tires. My mechanical shortcomings are becoming obvious.

ummm-have you removed the spindle? should drop straight out.

After removing the caliper bolts, use a screwdriver or similar to widen the gap between the brake pads. This is allow the calipers to be removed from the disc at an angle to avoid hitting the rims.
