Hi Guys
I have very bad news this morning.
The highest motorcycle museum in the world (2500 m above sea level) on the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road in Tyrol / Austria was destroyed this morning by a huge fire. I know the museum very well as I live only 50km away. It is located directly at the northern toll station of the Timmelsjoch Alpine Road, which connects Tyrol with South Tyrol, which is one of the most famoust pass routes in Europe.
Here a link to the museum in the fantastic alpine region at 2.509m above sea level before the fire:

What a tragic loss. Surely a fair bit of magnesium there.
Found a decent utoob, very nice collection... Laverda, MG, MV, Gilera, brit stuff, etc

Thanks for this very impressive video.
You can now imagine the enormous damage by the fire. Some of them are unique items that were irreplaceably destroyed on this freezing winter night.
The cause of the fire has not yet been clarified. The museum is closed in winter.

What a shame, too bad to see such a beautiful museum with such a terrific collection of bikes go up in flames, I was lucky enough to have visited it before we rode the Timmelsjoch on our way to Italy and was hoping to visit again some day,

For everyone who lives in the southern hemisphere and does not know this motorcycle route, a video of the snow removal in May 2019 in the heart of the Alps.
The pass crossing is the border between Austria and Italy and is 2500 m above sea level.

The cause of the devastating fire was recently revealed against:
A technical defect in one of the exhibition monitors triggered the fire.

Have been busy with various tasks and thus haven't been on the Ghetto for a bit. Thus missed this whole tragedy. What a loss to all of us the world over who care about such things.
Those lost motorcycles are but inanimate lumps of metal and other bits, but they move our souls as well as our bodies.
So sorry to read of this.

Doesn't look like 2021 is getting any better than 2020. What a sad loss.

Yeah. Just a damn shame. The machines those two brothers had in that showcase were just beautiful, and for some the very last of their kind, priceless if you will. Sad day in history for those of us that really just have to own at least one motorcycle. For whatever reason, to add that certain bit to life only we who ride truly understand.....

Guys,
I am sending you pictures and video material from the ruin one week after the dying fire
If you know the museum well, as I do, the loss of these unique pieces hurts tremendously!
However, the fire brigade managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjacent restaurant and cable car station. And some Indian motorcycles were saved from the basement.

One pre fire video I watched that was fairly long I counted 12 Brough Superiors! And most of them were not just "garden variety" SS100s.

Hi Dave,
You are absolutely right!
As far as I know, some, possibly all, of the Brough Superior motorcycles were on private loan from the developer of the new Brough Superior models. He has a shop 7km from my home:
