GRiSO reliability Empty
PostSubject: GRiSO reliability   GRiSO reliability Icon_minitime1Wed Sep 30, 2020 5:03 pm

My previous Gootz was a California, I put 76,000 miles on it ,and was very disappointed to have to replace the turnsignal relay at about 40k. it turned out to have been made in Mexico, not Italy. That was the total of repairs.
Now I have a 4valve (total) GRiSO,2008. Will it be as rock solid as the Cali, barring anomalies?
What about the tappet/Cam problems on the 8 valvers? Do those problems occur? If not. why not?
What should I do to avoid known common failures?
I bought it new at Moto International.most of my mileage goes on my Norge,so the G-Bike has only 12 k.
Thanks in advance!

Yes.

No. Different engines. The 1100 has pushrods. The 8V has chain driven cams.

1100's are pretty bulletproof. As with any CARC bike it will need the swingarm bearings and shock linkage bearings greasing or, at this age, maybe replacing but other than that it should be pretty solid. Tune it, map it, ride it.

I put 50K on my 2007 1100 without issues. I trust my 2013 1200SE will be just as reliable.

35K miles on my 07...not a glitch of any kind.
If you do your maintenance diligently, you will reach 100K miles with no hick ups.
Some folks here are in the neighborhood of 200K kilometers and still going. Probably not on the original clutch though...
