Subject: Greasing up those bearings. Tue May 05, 2020 4:02 am
I've been putting this off way too long. My '06 GRiSO is running great, and I don't like to prod and poke it un-necessarily. But, the head, swing-arm and shock linkages have never been re greased in my 6 years of ownership. Is there a step by step guide somewhere? Pictures would help too...... I don't want to end up with an unrideable pile of bits when this lockdown finishes!

First of all you have to support it safely then remove the Left side foot-peg bracket, rear wheel etc. Its actually one of the easiest swing arms to remove, just watch all the tiny needle rollers in the 3 sided dog bone. I support mine with a simple shop stand through the Luigi hole. I haven't tackled the steering head, I figure I will wait till it starts to get notchy then replace the bearings.

Paul, would it be possible to send me as well some of those pictures? I am in a similar position: a 2007 GRiSO with 55,000 km. No trouble yet but I better make sure that stays like that!

I use boat trailer grease - just saying! It's designed to be in harsh aquatic environments, so on a Guzzi maybe overkill, but...

Hi Simon....yes we're looking for the following criteria to be met :
1. Slightly looser travel restrictions so we can travel long distances at speed in a group without drawing (too much) attention 2. Able to pitch tents somewhere 2 metres apart 3. Beer & food on tap
We were thinking of North Wales again (like wot we did last year) before 'it' happened Paul
