| And you know the torquing protocol on these later engines? To do it properly you need a radial torque gauge. | |

| For the short bolts I believe then 90+90 for the long ones but I'll have to check to make sure, memory isn't what it was ten years ago. | |

| I have the service manual Pete, unless you advise different, I will follow that. I did think 14 Nm was a bit light, but 90 degrees from there and considering the four main nuts are on bellville(?) washers, it makes some sense - snot going to go anywhere, and being steel gaskets, even more so! | |

| Well, Black Betty rides again! All back together - did a 20 km test ride and all seems OK. Original Injectors and the "ultimate" map from August 2018. | |

| Just shy of 120 km today after adjusting the valves again this morning - a bit lacklustre yesterday and a noisy R/H side - inlet was around 0.3 instead of 0.1 (FIIK how that happened - OE I reckon). Checked the rest and made (very) slight adjustments. Still a bitch to start but once warmed up very very nice - oh and that flat spot/miss that started this all off is gone.
The rider has a few sore spots that need attention. This WFH has played havoc with my slim profile - pants and jacket seemed to have shrunk. Lack of ride time also shows up where things need improving in this old carcass. All in good time...
Kept her below 6500 today as there are new rings to bed in , reco'd valves and seats. Planning to ride to Shitney on Thursday (weather permitting) and will continue to optimise everything.
It's funny though, you take something off and let it sit for 3 months and the old CRAFT disease comes in with a kick. Was putting the L/H rocker gear into the head and noticed the bottom, stepped spacer for one of the valve springs was left over. Knowing it was essential for good running (and I know I didn't have a spare), I removed head and pulled the collets, replaced the spacer, and started again. Patience is my new virtue - NOT! Still I started re-assembly around 8am yesterday and had here running before 1pm.
Win I reckon.
Put in the old injectors and the map from August 2018 (which is what Pat has). This is supposed to be the optimum map, well it was until I started playing with things including some Chisesium injectors - 35-40% fuel removed with these, so not quite within spec. See how the old injectors go - I might even have them professionally cleaned.

| Figured it's been a while since I did a throttle body sync - this MAY be the issue with poor starting and takeoff - possibly been 3 years. Slap myself on the wrist - call me lazy. Throttle body set has been off an back on at least twice, maybe three in that time. | |

Any thoughts?
Going to be a right royal bastard to get off if that's the case.
Inform me, edumecate me.
These are the rocker covers off a 1100 GRiSO or a 1200 Sport 2V dunger... Sorry, just spotted this. Probably too late as always! Paint stripper (not the caustic type) removes the powder coating and oven cleaner helps with the e-coat layer. Finish off with a scotch cloth.

| Sync'd the throttle bodies - they were within a smidgin of spot on. Did up the CO to +5 from 0. Noticed a rough spot around 3800-4200 so will add a little into the map. Apart from that I really don't know why it is so hard to start. It's OK when hot but from cold - meh! | |

| Stepper is long retired, will tweak the warmup table a little too, thanks Mark. IIRC, I was dropping it off to get rid of the rich smell, which turned out to be oil. | |

| Starts easy, but really is a prick to get going - misses, farts, stalls. Handful of revs and you can get away, and lasts like that for a few minutes. Mark might well be on the right money with the warmup map. | |
