| I have a friend who is a top custom painter here in LA, so It occured to me to get a 2nd set of; tank skins, fenders, etc. and go for a unique color. I'd keep the stock Teni green skins, but have the new color too! Where can I buy a set of plastics to mess with? (I know I'm nuts) | |

| i have been considering that option also.. there is a black tank on ebay for $499 right now and some white body work also .. but that second set idea has a pretty steep cost. I was also thinking of doing vinyl wrap instead, just unsure if they can do a really good job on the gas tank.

| Cool. I don't want to mess up my stock parts, as they are mint. Vinyl wrap? Hadn't thought of that at all. Interesting. Thanks! | |

| Various bits and pieces turn up on places like Pinwall from time to time. Do be aware that although outwardly similar the 1100 and 1200 tanks are different.

| Actually in thinking about it.. since you have a matt paint job vinyl wrap might not be an option.. with paint I would just wax it up so it would have a chance of coming off.. I would definitely talk to a couple people before wrapping your flat paint.
Thanks Pete! | |

| I am going another route...in what will turn out to be a few years probably I will have my aluminium parts done for the devil. I am just copying the stock parts in polished al. so far I have a gauge bucket and trim panel, tank top and bottom, and the tops of the two side pieces roughed out now, I want a year off from work to piddle...beating sheet metal is good therapy. The goal is to replace all the cosmetic plastic with polished aluminium...yeah like I am ever gonna finish this project.... That stinking ign switch well is a major mother, I have done that about 6-8 times now and still cant get it, I am a real amateur metal former, | |

Pete I didn't know that. I thought they were the same as I fitted (no hook up) a 1200 on my 1100. Good to know. The side/coil covers are different between the 2 bikes I discovered. The 8V ones have smaller openings for the valve covers... | |

| The main difference is the location of the drains and vent nipples but I don't think the 1100 tank will fit on the Hi Cam because of this. Whether the reverse is true I don't know.
I could also be completely wrong but the tanks are different.
