First of all I like the design of waves rotors and I think it fits perfectly the GRiSO.
This guy claims that you have to mount them in a certain way to avoid pulsation. Is this really the case?
My 2011 GRiSO has those Sunstar rotators which are really cheap: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The bike has a slight judder at certain speeds and it got a bit better after I did this:
But it did not disappear completely.
I might add new wave rotors, do you have some reocmmendations here? I found those: BRAKING: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] PROBRAKE: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] EBC (EBC217817): [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] GALFER: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Even Galfer recommends to mount them with an offset to avoid pulsation.

Going against the tide already, but if your wave rotors pulsate, they are most likely from pad material buildup. This is generally caused by the bobbins being too tight. Easily fixed though: brake cleaner in the bobbins and rotate the bobbins to free them up.

Wave rotors sure look cool.
Are you looking to add some more parts to the bike or do you want better braking performance?

I detest wave rotors! I've got the set off my GRiSO bolted to the Turdio because it's rotors were shagged.

@ Pete: Can you rember which wave rotors you had? The cheap Sunstar or the Braking ones?
I think warped rotors is not just a "wave-problem".
@Bobcat Sig: My plan is first to inspect the Sunstar rotors again. Maybe those-half floaters or bobbins are still stuck. If the rotors are really warped then I will buy those: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I called Probrake, their rotors are produced by Braking in Italy and have an ABE-certificate which makes everyting easier in Europe/Germany.

Mine are the 'Braking' ones. They're pretty much unworn, (I can send pics if you like?) if you'd like them they're yours. Just send me a pair of unworn, unwarped, alternatives. I just don't like them and think any perceived benefits are bollocks!

My wavy rotors had significant benefits. They benefitted Tony's 1200 Sport by allowing him to continue to stop. They benefited my GRiSO by being installed on Tony's Sport.

I was going to say that if you're after better braking performance, always start with the pads. Maybe you've already tried that? Or this is warping problem?

In my video I also decribe the update to EBC front brake pads FA244HH (sintered metal). The performance got better.
The wave design was originally made for Moto Cross. It should free the calipers from dirt and mud. I think on all other types of motorcycles it is more a design/marketing gag. For my taste it really fits to the GRiSO.

I went with BrakeTech Axis Iron rotors (no waves, its a bike not a jet ski). AUD$1000. Why? They have fantastic stopping ability and weighed less than anything else I could find at the time. Grimeca RSV4 discs unfortunately are no longer available, or so I've been told.
Looks? Who cares? Nobody notices my brakes anyway as they are attached (with Ti bolts) to my carbon fibre wheels. WTF?
Yep! It's all about the ride, not, "look at me".

I mouted Probrake discs now and will test them in spring. The quality is much better and they are lighter.
When the V7 needed a new one, I selected on price - $A102 delivered from M Factory, as opposed to alternatives that started at $A300. Just happened to be a wave rotor. On the V7, there's only one of them & the it doesn't have to cope with with the power and weight of the GRiSO. It works, and seems adequate and the price was right. I suppose it's past time to service the bobbins.
