| I am not trying to start a lengthly tire thread! I have been happy with the performance of the PR4 tires currently installed. I am wondering if any other members have made a switch to the newer model. I am planning on trying the PR5 but would like to hear from others that have used them before I commit. | |

| PR5's are great but I have also used Metzler Roadtec 01's which I consider equally as good as the Michelin product. Bonus is that both are super good in the wet.
Both tyres far exceed my abilities and those of 95% of all riders.

| PR5s are as good as the PR4 GTs, IMHO. | |

| For anyone for whom tyre life is less important I'd like to put out a shout for Conti Sport Attacks. My mate Chuck (From Indiana.) put me onto them as he'd put a set on his Scura and raved about them. Despite my initial skepticism I spooned a set on to the GRiSO a year or so ago and they are, undoubtedly, brilliant but boy do they wear quick! NowI'm notorious for wearing out tyres. I don't know why because I ride like the grandfather of the oldest man in the world but I could never get more than 7-8,000km out of a PR4-GT. Compared to them the the Sport Attacks just seem to evaporate but they stick like shit to a blanket and give great feedback. Since I rarely ride the GRiSO long distances any more I'm happy to take the mileage hit. If I do decide to go somewhere further away I'll probably stick a set of PR5's or the like on my spare wheels but the Stelvio, (Which I've decided to persist with in 1400 form. I just have to get it over to Mark for mapping!) is a far better mile muncher. As soon as it's mapped I'm planning on doing a lap of Oz before I get to old or my heart gives out. Whichever comes first! Pete | |

Pete Totally agree about the Conti Sport Attack... It's a soft compound all around so because of that, I get about 2500/2800 miles on them max but they do stick like chewing gum on a monkey's arse. I'd be OK with that mileage but it's less than a couple of months span in my case. I wanna do more riding, less tire changing. lol I do love that tire though, and I'm surprised that we don't hear more praises about it. Of course it doesn't help that in Florida it's only straight line riding so a soft compound won't last no matter what brand. In the Carolina Mountains, I found myself scraping the pegs way too easily and on a heavy bike like the GRiSO, you'll have little warning before you lose traction. I don't have the skills to toy with that fine line. lol

| Changed the original Metzelers for the Metzeler Roadtecs this spring, I´m very pleased so far, not in in need for the last mm of rubber as i´m not riding like that. The grip and control in dry/wet is very comforting. My Pata Negra feels perfect on these. | |

| If You boyz like the Conti Sport Attack I would clearly recommend the Road Attack version. Great feedback especially from the front, same grip, better life and the most agile tyre I ever had on the GRiSO. | |

| FWIW, as a confirmed Michelin fan I fitted a pair of the new Pirelli Angel 2 on the GRiSO before I left for my Euro trip and they are fabulous. The standard Metzeler Z8 were OK. I never had a 'moment' with them and they gripped just fine but not much in the way of feel. The rear had life left at 5.5k miles but was squared enough for me to replace even without considering my planned trip. I would probably just have gone with the Z8 rear but Pirelli had a deal and gave a free front if you bought the rear. It was a no brainer and i'm now a convert. | |

| For those who are Continental fans, here are the new tires for 2020. They pretend that the mileage is very high, especially for the new ContiRoad !

| Dunlop Roadsmarts III are also a very good choice. Fairly priced too. | |

| Yes Dunlop are very good. Those ones are on my GRiSO at the moment. Probably next time I'll try another brand to compare. Plenty of choice on the market ! | |

Fairly priced too. Same as I have on my 2012 right now. I had run a couple sets through my Ducati 1200S MTS when I had it. Better life than the Pirelli or Metzelers, with just a slight loss in stick, based on the extra power of the Ducati.
