Cape Palliser only had a couple of KMs of gravel
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]We then set off, via the Rimutukas to Otaki Beach for the night
1200Kms (0640 - 2330)
Day 2
Up early and made our way north to Taranaki and Cape Egmont. Not much to say quite a boring ride on this side.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Made our way north again and saw a heap of American cars heading south, including a good mate in his '74 Stingray.
They were going to the Americaba show, in New Plymouth.
Anyway managed to hit Auckland at rush hour (actually rush 4 hour, if you're in a car)
We basically split lanes for the next 50-80kms until we got to the other side of Auckland.
Managed to knock my mirror off on a cars wing mirror.
We got to the Far North early, about 2230 only 900Kms
Day 3
Again up early and shot up to Cape Reinga in the Rain, which persisted down for about 300kms
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Made our way back to Kawerau, from the Far North without incident, and decided to take a slight detour over the Kopu-Hikuai and Whangamata.
We made it home in daylight
Over all 3090Kms 2 1/2 days 35 hours riding time
Cheers
