| OK - I suspect that I need to re-set my throttle cables. [And my throttle bodies, but that's in another thread.] Pertinent info:
- 1st cable = the throttle cable that is tightened or drawn into the throttle cable housing when accelerating, loosened when rolling off the throttle[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- this 1st cable has been "shortened" as much as possible via the cable adjuster nut. This nut cannot get any closer to the throttle.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- 2nd cable = the throttle cable that is loosened when rolling on the throttle, tightened when rolling off the throttle.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- this 2nd cable has been "tightened" as much as possible via the cable adjuster nut. There is some room to push the nut further from the throttle, but not much.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I had to adjust the cables over the weekend, because I noticed the throttle was binding or sticking when the front wheel was completely turned to the left. The way I have things set up now, the throttle freely closes no matter what the position of the front wheel is. There is no slack in the throttle; in fact, I can't create any because the 1st cable has no room for further adjustment in that direction. I expect that is is a just-noticed side effect of installing Stelvio handguards on my GRiSO over the winter in a successful attempt to keep my hands warmer in cold temps. The only way I could fit the handguards involved rotating the throttle ~90* forward, so that the solid metal bits that actually attach to the throttle housing are now oriented forward/down. I'd provide pics, but I need to get the hosting thing sorted. There has to be an easy way to get the throttle cables more centered...isn't there? NBG
