Subject: tightening torques 8v Sun Sep 16, 2018 12:56 pm
Manual states... "Rocking lever support nut-M10x1.5 (eight) -----15 Nm (11.06 lbf ft)+ 42 Nm (30.98 lbf ft)" which part is this? I assume these are the 2 allen head bolts for the rocker caps. "Camshaft- rocking levers support fixing screws (12) -------17nm (12.54 lbf ft) " I assume these are the allen head for the camshaft. The "rocking levers support" almost sounds like the first, but I would bet it's a bad translation from Italian describing a camshaft. I just want to make sure I have these straight! Thanks in advance!
The 15mm nuts that go n the studs are tightened in two steps, first to 11 ft/lbs and then 30 to 32. The two rocker retainer plate nuts are the 12.54 ft/lbs ones but I reckon that's a bit loose for 8mm into alloy so I do them by feel but I've got 45 years experience of this shit. If in doubt, go with the manual.
The 15mm nuts are listed as "head fixing screw" in the list, so the "rocking lever support nut" seems to be something different, since there are eight allen head bolts securing the 2 cams, but the torque figure seems on the high side for that.
