Introductions - Thanks for creating the Ghetto Empty
PostSubject: Introductions - Thanks for creating the Ghetto   Introductions - Thanks for creating the Ghetto Icon_minitime1Tue May 27, 2014 7:25 am

Hello all,

I just joined as I was following a few of the members comments on some of the other forums.  I have had my '07 G1100 for several years now which I picked up from Mike at MPH here in Houston.  I am the second owner but I do know the original owner which is a plus.  Anyway,  I haven't been doing much riding much over the last few years except for short trips due to having 3 children in short succession but haven been able to get out.

I started riding in 1998-1999 and had the luxury of working in a shop in San Diego while going to school that carried European brands and vintage british bikes. I had a 900cr but took a Centauro up with some friends to the MG campout in SoCal and became enamored by the visceral nature of the Guzzi even compared with my Ducati. I spent some time getting into Supermoto before heading to the UK for a few years.

When I got back to the States I was looking for a v11 when i discovered the GRiSO and the longer wheel base and riding position appealed to me since we have ribbons of flat boring highway here in Texas.

I came to the ghetto after seeing a lot of tuning discussions on other sites and am considering the PCV AT but really curious about the over-fueling potential. I am reading a lot about the 8v but not so much on the older 4v.

Thanks!
Jason

Welcome to the ghetto Jason!

Many of us here own, or have owned 1100 GRiSOs, so many of the perspectives still apply.  As far as mapping goes for the 1100, it's just a matter of time.  Truly, experimentation with GuzziDiag and related tools is still in relative infancy.  Well we're probably in toddler stage now, but the point is that there is still a lot to learn and apply.  The 8-Valve GRiSOs have benefited the most as those owners comprised the biggest group of early adopters.

My own experience with the 1100 GRiSO was that the PCV-AT package worked very well and improved performance nicely.  It's only a matter of time and effort that similar gains can be had via map development.

Anyway, glad you've found us here.

SD

In my experience the PCV/AT system works better with the 2V than the 4V for which it is in my book entirely inappropriate. Having said that I have seen over-fueling problems on 2V machines as well.

The choice is yours but I for one cannot for the life of me see what the advantage of an add-on interference system is over being able to write and manipulate your own map.

Thanks Steve. I doubt you'll recall but when i first joined Gtech, you and i exchanged a number of emails regarding jet hot coating and luggage system (must have been 4 years ago at least now.)

Thanks for putting this place together.

Thanks for the feedback Pete, this is precisely what I'd like to learn more about. I'm keen to understand what can be done with the 4v fueling with mapping. I don't commute on the GRiSO and use it more for recreation so I tend to wring it out on a Sunday morning so the lower rev range is less important but it would be nice to make the power delivery more linear overall.

I have a lot of reading to do regarding the mapping for the 4v motor. Im about to switch jobs so i'll have to get a new laptop in the coming weeks as well.

Jason, I have a 4V map if you want to try it. It's still under development, so I need some testers to iron out the 'bugs'. PM me your email address if you're keen.

cheers

Hi Jason,

How do you like the Corbin seat? I'm on the fence about getting one myself, to add a little ride height and improve comfort for longer trips.

Ghetto member [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] at a very fair price and he's just one province over in BC. Seems like an ideal transaction to me.
