| Recently Traded in my Harley Street 750 for the beauty: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]First big twin, prior to the street I had a 05 ZX636. So far I absolutely LOVE this bike. Recently found out (the hard way) the dummy light doesn't work, so I was left pushing her quite some way. Still love her so far. 22,000 miles on the clock. I believe i'm safe from the flat tappet issue, can someone confirm? issue Eng Serial A5 013708. First thing i'm getting is a beetle map! | |

| Nope. It's a flattie unless it's been rollerised. Pull a rocker cover for a look. It'll need a 'C' kit I think.

| I think it may have been, gonna get docs from the dealer. I went into the dealer with concerns about the flat tappets they said they had the same ones, but the prior customer had the head rebuilt and provided repair orders. Hopefully he had it rebuilt with rollers . | |

Now that’s a good trade! Seriously though, check to be sure it’s rollers. You’ll find instructions and photos to make it easy if you search this forum. Below is a photo of what my flats looked like at just 6000 miles. You don’t want bits of this diamond coating or underlying metal tearing up the innards of your engine. Getting 'Documentation' from the dealer may well prove nothing. There was an official 'Recall' on early 8V's that involved changing from one form of flat tappet to another, this did not sort the problem but it does tend to lull people into a false sense of security. The only way to know for sure is to pop a rocker cover for a looksee, this is very easy, just be careful to lever the plug caps up off the plugs from underneath to avoid damaging them, don't grab them with pliers or lever from the top. | Good news, previous owner had it rollerized at a motoguzzi dealer in 2016. Dodged that bullet . | |

| ^^^^Perfect!! I had the same one (white 09) and managed to put 36.000 miles on it before the flat tappets went out. We didn't know back then that the flatties were doomed no matter what. My dealer at the time "Gave me" a used tappet set until the C kit come out but sadly, I crashed the bike shortly after and got a 2013. Which I traded for the 2017. lol I still have a bit of nostalgia over the white one...my first GRiSO and first Guzzi. | |
