| Ghetto members, I need advice please. I am experiencing my first drops of oil on the ground from my 2014 GRiSO. It has 8,600 miles on it and I bought it new. I traced the leak to a hose line that appears to come out of a small black tank? with two hoses. One has a hose clamp (bottom) and the other is a crimped line (above). The crimped line appears to be the one leaking. It sits right behind the horn on the left side of the bike when you are sitting on it. The other end of the hose goes into the back side of the cylinder head at the top. I have some pictures but I forgot how to attach so I will go read Steak's tutorial (again.....)
In advance, thank you.

| Yup, there are the breather hoses that go from the cam cover plates on the back of the heads up to the separator box be ind the headstock and then there is a vern hose that goes from that box to the airbox and from the bottom of the separator there is the return line to the sump for the condensate.
Also note that there is another, larger, spigot which is capped by a sort of loathsome black rubber condom. The spigot was for a breather hose on another model and was surplus to requirements so it was capped. Those caps are notorious for leaking as well! They split and dribble oil down the side of the block.
Replace whatever is leaking. If it's one of the hoses you could se if there's enough length to just snip off the manky bit on the end and re-seat it but if it's cracked once it's really time to replace it.

| Pete,
Your awesome as always. You ever come to Savannah GA, beer is on me. I see the condom thing and it seems like the hose right above it. Being a crimped fitting, there’s no way to tighten it. It looks like I can cut and put a hose clamp on it. Will investigate more tomorrow.
You helped me solve my startus interruptus too with a 20 amp fuse instead of the 15 the fix it kit came with and no more problems there either. It’s been at least 6 months. Thanks again | |

| I think that 'appendix' should be permanently sealed by some sort of plastic plug in place of the factory leak prone rubber cap whenever one have access to the breather box [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Phang, thanks for the picture, it’s helpful
Pete, it’s looking like the top hose and not the condom below it although I’ve reached out to AF1 to order both. Looks like the rubber is cracking like old rubber does. Is there any reason why it doesn’t have hose clamps on it? Why does it have crimped clamps on both ends? Cleaner installation?

| Piaggio(aprilia)love those oetiker clamps. Tool and replacements can be found online, or replace with std worm | |

| Ok, it is hard to get at the breather box end being tucked in where it is. The top hose (oil breather pipe #978765) that come back to the cylinder head was leaking and the condom below it looks ok for now. The replacement hose is so tight to get on the breather box nipple it was near impossible. I can see why it stress cracked to begin with. I can’t see this one lasting a long time either. Don’t know why they couldn’t use a slightly larger hose since it has a clamp on it anyway. One of the hoses ( I ordered all of them) #00823955080- breather pipe was sent and the date on it says 2007. 10 years old? Really. Harpers MG told me that was sent by Piaggio this week. Feels crazy to put a 10 year old hose on a 3.5 year old bike. Probably this one could be sourced at a car parts store as it’s a straight hose. Harpers was about 25% cheaper than AF1 where I normally go and was open on the Monday that I ordered everything. | |
